    摘要: A high-pressure discharge lamp which includes a light-transmitting air-tight discharge container, an electrode formed of tungsten as a main component and fixedly sealed in the discharge container, and a discharge medium containing a halide of a light emitting metal and sealed in the discharge container. The surface of the electrode is defined as follows. That is, the average value of center line average roughness Ra of the surface, is set to 0.3 &mgr;m or less, or the average value of the center line average roughness Rz of the surface of the electrode, is set to 1.0 &mgr;m or less, or the average value of the surface area increasing rate of the surface of the electrode is set to 1.0% or less.

    摘要: There is proposed a bulb which is coated with an optical interference film consisting of alternately formed thin titanium oxide layers and metal oxide layers of a lower refractive index than that of titanium oxide layers. The characteristics of the bulb reside in the formation of each titanium oxide layer which is formed by thermal decomposition of a mixture consisting of 5 to 50 parts by weight of Ti(OR).sub.4 and 95 to 50 parts by weight of polymerized Ti(OR).sub.4, where R are C.sub.1 to C.sub.18 alkyl group, --OCOR' (R' is C.sub.1 to C.sub.18 alkyl group or --X radical which is capable of forming a chelate ring with titanium.

    摘要: An ultraviolet ray lamp includes a discharge vessel made of quartz glass, filled with a filling. A pair of electrodes is able to generate a discharge in the discharge vessel. An optical filter made of metal oxide, which is partly formed on the outer surface of the discharge vessel, transmits ultraviolet rays of long wavelength and cuts off ultraviolet rays of short wavelength. Furthermore, A device for generating ultraviolet rays includes an ultraviolet ray lamp generating ultraviolet rays including short and long wavelength, having a discharge vessel made of quartz glass. An enclosure accommodates the discharge vessel, transmitting at least ultraviolet ray of short wavelength. An optical filter made of metal oxide, which is partly formed on at least one side of the surface of the enclosure, transmits ultraviolet rays of long wavelength and cuts off ultraviolet rays of short wavelength. An ultraviolet ray lamp or a device for generating ultraviolet rays may be used for a sterilizer, an apparatus for treating fluid, or an air cleaner.

    摘要: A low-pressure mercury vapor-filled discharge lamp has a glass arc tube and a glass outer tube disposed coaxially with the arc tube forming a space therebetween. A gas is disposed in the space. The arc tube contains a gas and is coated with a phosphor. A first seal hermetically seals the inner tube. A second seal seals the inner tube to the outer tube. The inner tube further contains a pair of cathodes coupled to Dumet wires extending from the interior of the inner tube to the outside of the lamp structure. The pressure in the space is set at not more than 1 Pa, which is nearly high vacuum. The longer the radial dimension of the space, the greater the heat retaining capacity and the better the temperature characteristics which can be obtained. However, by setting the pressure of the space at 1 Pa or less, the optimum heat retaining capacity can be obtained while reducing the diameter of the low-pressure mercury vapor filled discharge lamp 1.

    摘要: A translucent cover (9) is so provided as to cover a high pressure sodium lamp (11) adapted to radiate at least visible light and rays of light in the wavelength range of 300 nm to 400 nm. A photocatalytic film (13) which is capable of preventing generation of interference between visible light is formed on either one of or both the inner side and outer side of the translucent cover (9). The photocatalytic film (13) contains as the principal component titania (TiO2) of which the peak wavelength for visible light transmittance is nearly the same as the peak wavelength for visible light radiated from the high pressure sodium lamp (11). Ultraviolet light radiated from the high pressure sodium lamp (11) enhances oxidation and decomposition of substances performed by the photocatalytic film (13), thereby preventing grime and contaminants from adhering to the translucent cover (9). Even if the thickness of the photocatalytic film (13) is increased in order to make the photocatalytic function more effective, visible light radiated from the high pressure sodium lamp (11) effectively passes through the photocatalytic film (13) at the peak wavelength so that decrease in the illuminating efficiency is prevented.
