摘要: Articles are anchored to the interior of the housing of a protective package by two pluralities of protuberances disposed on the housing shells. The two protuberances fall into meshing registry when the shells are brought together. A ramp is disposed on one of the shells to receive the article and position it over the protuberances.

摘要: Temperature indicators are provided comprising a heat-conductive carrier having at least one, but preferably a plurality of regions (cavities) thereon, each region containing a thermally responsive substance which undergoes a change of state at a precise and predetermined temperature different from the temperature of the change of state of the thermally responsive substance in any other region. The temperatures at which such changes of state occur are detected visually by an indicator system which is intimately associated with the thermally responsive materials in these regions. The incorporation of certain organic compounds into the indicator system accelerates visual detection of such change of state, thus permitting rapid measurement of the temperature corresponding to the incipient fusion of the thermally responsive material in each region.

摘要: A thermometer having a thermally sensitive substance deposited on a thermally conductive sheet, and an overlying transparent film carrying indicator means which are superpositionably registrable with the thermally responsive substance for communicating therewith to denote specified temperatures upon change of state of the substance is provided with a readily removable flexible shield interposed between the thermally responsive substance and indicator means to prevent communication and reaction between the two until the thermometer is actually required for use. The shield is readily removably adhesively secured to the transparent film and can be peelably removed therefrom by pulling action applied digitally to a pull tab at one end of the shield. Concurrent with peeling of the shield from the transparent film, the latter is pressed against the thermally conductive sheet to position the indicator means in proper overlying communicating registration with the temperature responsive substance on the carrier sheet.

摘要: A sterile thermometer package in which a generally flat disposable type thermometer is packaged is disclosed. The package comprises an envelope of first and second flat strips of material having vapor impervious and heat sealable character which are heat sealed together in a continuous heat seal course encircling the thermometer. A removable shield is disposed in the thermometer and is designed to maintain the thermometer operative indicating components separated until required for use, the shield having a pull tab thereon with which peeling removal of the same is initiated, the tab being anchored within and to the envelope on one end of the latter. To remove the thermometer from the package, the envelope is opened at the other end thereof to expose the thermometer handle and the thermometer then is removed from the envelope by pulling force applied to the thermometer such pulling action effecting removal of the shield within the package during course of the thermometer removal from the package. Further during removal of the thermometer from the package, a presser comb unit presses the operative elements in the indicating end of the thermometer into operative communication.

摘要: An improved temperature indicator is provided which comprises a carrier having at least one but preferably a plurality of regions, each containing a substance consisting of a core material and a wall material encapsulating the core material. Each core material is a thermally responsive substance which undergoes change of state at precise and predetermined temperature and the wall material is a frangible coating which can be ruptured by the application of a relatively mild pressure. An indicator means overlies the temperature indicating portion of said indicator in association with said regions so that when the frangible coating is ruptured, the indicator means becomes intimately associated with said core material. The wall material is capable of withstanding hostile environmental conditions which protects the core material from premature exposure until the temperature indicator is ready to be used for its intended application.

摘要: An electro- or phonocardiographic apparatus including a transducer adapted to convert the electric changes or sounds associated with the activity of the heart into corresponding graphic readings. A writing surface is provided and a stylus driven by a reversible servomotor is adapted to write on the surface. A first transistor switch connects the transducer with the motor so that the position or movement of the stylus is indicative of the heart activity as received by the transducer. A second transistor switch connects for restoring the stylus to a null position in the absence of a signal from the transducer.

摘要: The deposition of liquid material by displacement of tubular needle is controlled in-line through directing a stream of pressured fluid at deposited material which has solidified, sensing the change in back pressure relative to a preselected value by means of proportional fluidic element, and increasing or decreasing the pressure under which the material is deposited in response to decrease or increase, respectively, in the back pressure. An apparatus for in-line control of the deposition includes a fluidic probe, a proportional center dump fluidic element, a source of pressure and a vessel in which the material to be deposited is held under a closed head space.
