    摘要: This disclosure presents a downhole device configured as a selectable hole trimmer. The selectable hole trimmer comprises an upper sleeve affixed inside a body via a stop. A charge sleeve is slidable inside the upper sleeve to provide a pressure to a pressurized volume. A catch sleeve is slidable inside the charge sleeve to align a bypass port and a return port with a drilling mud volume. An actuator is fluidly connected to the pressurized volume via a port. The actuator is configured to provide a pressure to a selectable hole cutter of the body via an actuation port in the transfer sleeve and actuate the selectable hole cutter piston of the selectable hole cutter to move relative to the body, wherein the cutter piston comprises one or more cutters. A manual controller configured to operate the actuator in response to a dropped activation ball.

    摘要: A system for trimming fins on a downhole tool is disclosed. The system includes a jig that mounts to the shaft of the tool. A linear aperture is formed in the jig and has a closed end, an open end, and is sized to axially receive a single fin of the tool. A channel is located on an underside of the jig beneath the aperture. The channel has an inner radius of curvature. The inner radius of curvature is substantially similar to an outer radius of curvature of the shaft. The channel can form a friction lock on the exterior of the shaft and be removably attached to the shaft without fasteners. The channel is arcuate and has a selected arcuate span.

    摘要: In some embodiments, a system including a tool drill string having a downhole device is disclosed. The downhole device includes a memory storing instructions and a downhole processor configured to execute the instructions to operate in a first transmission mode by default. The downhole processor is communicatively coupled to an uphole processor via the first transmission mode. The downhole processor is further to transmit, via a second transmission mode, a message to the uphole processor, determine whether a response is received, via the second transmission mode, from the uphole processor, and responsive to determining the response is received from the uphole processor, switch from the first transmission mode to the second transmission mode.
