Reinforcing strips are secured to at least one edge of the lower sheet employed in the manufacture of plasterboard and is incorporated with the sheet in the formed board as an edge reinforcement. The reinforcing strip may have any desired cross-section or profile but preferably has a channel section whereby the corners of the board are protected. It may also be grooved longitudinally to provide a kerfed edge to the board which is useful when securing the boards by means of concealed supports.

    摘要: The invention relates to lining systems for building surfaces such as walls or ceilings. The structure uses at least two spaced parallel rails, adjustable connectors sliding on the rails and panel attachment members secured to the rails by the connectors and serving to support facing panels, for example gypsum wall boards. The connectors are adjustable in three mutually perpendicular directions being slidable along the rails and along the attachment members and adjustable to vary the spacing between the rail and the attachment member. Panels may be secured to the attachment members by any suitable means such as screws, clips, adhesives or edge engagement. Attachment members may be elongated, in the form of studs, or short locally operative clips. The lining system enables irregularities of the underlying structure to be accommodated and a planar lining produced.

    摘要: The invention relates to cementitious building board, such as gypsum board, having reinforcing strips along one or more of its edges. Such strips can be incorporated in such board faced with paper or other sheet material by cutting back the core leaving the edges of the sheets projecting, applying the strip and returning the edges of the sheets, to be adhesively secured to the face of the strip. The edge may have any desired profile but of particular interest is a board or tile having a groove, or kerf along at least two opposite edges of the core, the reinforcing strips being corresponding channel sections with lateral flanges to which the edges of the facing sheets are secured. The reinforced boards are useful in the production of ceilings and walls and, in the case of panels and tiles with kerfed edges, can be mounted by invisible or ''''secret'''' fixing devices.

    摘要: The invention relates to forming a sheet facing or lining on cut edges of plaster or gypsum board. The core and backing sheet of the board are cut back, leaving a part of the facing sheet projecting beyond the cut edge. The edge of the backing sheet and inner surface of the projecting part of the facing sheet are thinned, and the projecting part of the facing sheet is then folded over the edge of the core and is bonded to the thinned edge of the backing sheet. The steps can be performed continuously on advancing plasterboard. The invention is useful for restoring edges of damaged or cut boards and in forming from preformed board, smaller panels or tiles which can have all their edges lined or faced with sheet material.

    摘要: Gypsum and gypsum plaster products can be made from an anhydrite or mixed anhydrite and gypsum starting material, of natural origin or derived chemically as a byproduct, by mixing the powdered anhydrite with part or all (but not more) of the water necessary for complete hydration to gypsum, compressing the mixture into compacted blocks or other bodies, and allowing the anhydrite to hydrate. If insufficient water is included in the mixture, the compacted bodies can be treated with water, for example by immersion, until sufficient water has been taken up. Accelerator can be mixed with the anhydrite or with the water. The product is a dry gypsum material in block or extruded form which can be used as such as calcined to form a satisfactory plaster.

    摘要: The rate of production of gypsum plaster by a continuous calcination process, in which a mass of gypsum being calcined is maintained in a fluidized condition predominantly by the water vapour evolved during calcination, can be considerably increased and a plaster product of reduced water demand be obtained by introducing an aridizing agent such as calcium chloride along with the gypsum and controlling the temperature in the vessel at a value substantially below that previously employed, i.e. below 150*C. Preferred processing conditions are a temperature within the range 120* to 140*C and a residence time of 60 to 145 minutes and the preferred concentration of aridizing agent is from 0.05 to 1% by weight of the gypsum.
