    摘要: The invention contemplates an improved diaphragm-operated fuelpump construction having particular use with a multiple-cylinder two-cycle engine, wherein two phased-displaced series of fluidpressure pulses are used for diaphragm actuation. In the primary pumping chamber, inlet and outlet check valves assure the desired single direction of fuel flow, and strikingly enhanced performance results from novel employment of an additional diaphragm-operated chamber, on the inlet side of the inlet check valve, said inlet-chamber diaphragm being driven by fluidpressure pulses which are phase-displaced from those which actuate the diaphragm of the primary pumping chamber. In the form specifically disclosed, a third diaphragm-operated chamber is on the outlet side of the outlet check valve, and the inlet and outlet chamber diaphragms are driven in phase with each other and, therefore, in phase-displaced relation with drive of the primary pumping-chamber diaphragm.

    摘要: A slide-rail suspension system for the drive track of a snowmobile is coupled to the chassis by a linking arm unit pivotally attached to a forward anchor axle to follow an arc prescribed by the linking arm unit. A pair of rear spring and shock absorbing units, each includes a bell crank pivotally connected to an aft portion of the slide rail unit with a relatively long arm connected to a fixed rear axle by a slot coupling. The short arms of the bell crank unit are connected by a piston-cylinder shock absorber to the slide rail unit. A preload coil spring encircles the shock absorber. A bump engagement initiates a sliding movement of the long bell crank with the resulting increase in the shock and spring rate to increase the impact absorbing ability. The short crank arm pivots with the force axis becoming perpendicular to shock absorber to increase the spring and shock rates. A front shock assembly includes a bell-crank and shock absorber unit and a pair of separate torsion spring means which also create a variable shock rate and spring rate. The long arm of the bell crank is connected by a sliding coupling to the front pivot axle. The short arm extends upwardly and is coupled to a shock absorber which is secured at the opposite end to the front end of the slide rail unit. The torsion springs are wound about the front axle with a lower spring arm slidably engaging the slide rail unit and an upper spring arm engaging the chassis.

    摘要: Apparatus for power positioning and holding of an outboard marine drive includes a manual trim angle selection input signal generator. A position sensitive signal generator in the form of a Hall cell or a resistor is secured on the gimbal ring unit with a movable element set in accordance with and by the movement of the marine drive. A comparator provides a pair of output signals in accordance with the relative magnitude of the two signals and depending upon whether drive is to be raised or lowered. The output signals are similarly connected through amplifying and switch isolating circuitry to actuate an electric motor and hydraulic pump unit to raise or lower the stern drive until the position sensor and the manual input are nulled. A slight dead band maintains stable operation as the stern drive is moved to a new trim position. A fail-safe circuit prevents malfunctioning if the sensing system open circuits.

    摘要: Capacitor discharge ignition analyzer includes a pulse source operable to generate electrical signals related to the inputoutput signals of various capacitor discharge ignition systems including battery driven and alternator driven systems. The pulse source may include a relaxation oscillator and switching transistors to generate appropriate initial charging pulses and delayed triggering pulses. Individual load matching circuit are provided to match the load normally applied to the trigger circuit of breakerless ignition systems. An on-off indicator is connected to be driven from the matching circuits. The analyzer also includes an electronic circuit generating an output signal approximating that of the permanent magnet alternators for charging of alternator driven systems. The circuit also includes means to generate a trigger pulse a predetermined time after the charging pulse. The analyzer also includes a self-testing circuit, and may be powered from a conventional battery. A polarity sensitive circuit indicates proper and improper battery connections. The analyzer includes a converter for generating alternating polarity signals, with the circuit connected to provide individual signals matched to selected types of ignition systems. A selection switch means provides for selected connection between an input-output tap means on the analyzer and the ignition circuits. The output of the capacitor is analyzed by a spark gap with an outer enclosure having a small opening. This permits direct testing of the ignition system on the engine without any practical danger of generating explosions as a result of surrounding gas fumes. A separate meter is provided to permit static testing of the output of the voltage and resistance characteristics of the several circuits, with a special energy adaptor being provided to permit selected connection of the ignition capacitor outputs into the meter.

The table includes an air bed or perforated surface to which air under pressure is supplied from below creating a multiplicity of closely spaced air jets upon which a game puck floats without touching the table surface. The table is bounded by a sturdy steel bumper rail which imparts a solid rebound to the puck. Each player is provided with a disc shaped bat which he slides across the table surface and into contact with the puck. An automatic scoring system is provided to receive and record the passage of pucks not blocked by the defending player, including means to inactivate the air bed upon completion of the game.

The primary blade extends forward well beyond the rounded tip and has an opening in that portion of the blade which projects beyond the rounded tip. A replaceable auxiliary blade fits into the ferrule slot and includes a pair of fastening arms which snap into a pair of holes on the ferrule. The auxiliary blade is positioned perpendicular to the primary blade with its pointed tip located within the primary blade opening.

    摘要: A method of conditioning type 18-8 stainless steel material for cold work by subjecting the material to a mechanical deforming operation of less than 85% above the Md30 temperature. This processing enables the stainless steel, upon cold work, to transform the austenite to martensite at a much higher rate than in unconditioned stainless steel so that much higher tensile strengths may be achieved with much lower amounts of cold work. In another embodiment of the invention, a method of producing a type 18-8 stainless steel with a tensile strength of over 325,000 psi. at about a 60% cold work level is achieved.

    摘要: A jet propulsion unit for a boat includes a generally rectangular pump housing section extended through a transom opening. A seal unit includes an O-ring seal compressed between a pair of brackets secured to the transom about the opening. The bottom wall and the side walls of the unit and the opening are formed as a flat planar member. The upper wall of the housing is formed with an upwardly curved surface from an aft portion of the propulsion unit toward the inner portion of the propulsion unit to create successively changing cross-sectional area taken on a vertical plane through the unit and thereby maintain an essentially constant sealing requirement with the unit in the opening. The bottom surface thus defines a reference with the upper surface configured to accommodate transom angles between zero to 20* while maintaining effective engagement of the single encircling seal member with the sealing surface of the housing. The seal unit thus encounters an essentially constant spacing between the housing and the seal bracket for all transom angles and a single unit may be used on all transoms. The rectangular construction of the housing locates the side walls spaced outwardly of a pump bowl wall and defines a discharge channel within which an exhaust pipe is located. This avoids the necessity of transom openings normally provided for the exhaust pipes as well as the requirement of a number of different fittings to accomplish the connection of the exhaust pipes through the transom. The exhaust is discharged into the water to also reduce the exhaust noise.

    摘要: A two-cycle internal combustion engine wherein the cylinders have a plurality of input or transfer ports through one side of the cylinder wall and a plurality of exhaust ports through the diametrically opposite side wall. Each piston includes a baffle plate extending upwardly from the piston crown, generally curved outwardly from the input ports and located between the inlet ports and an imaginary transverse vertical plane bisecting the piston. The wall directs the fuel-air charges entering through the transfer ports toward each other to define a combined stream which rises to the top of the cylinder as the combusted gases move out through the exhaust ports on the opposite side. Auxiliary inlet channels in the interior of the cylinder wall communicate with apertures in the piston side wall so that a portion of the fuel-air mixture passes therethrough from the crankcase to the combustion chamber without going through the transfer ports.
