The engine includes combustion chambers having surfaces which are operable at high temperatures during engine operation to increase the combustion rate of low cetane fuels. The engine is further configured to reduce starting times in cold and/or low pressure situations such as those experienced during attempts to restart a plane engine at relatively high altitudes.

摘要: A two-stroke internal combustion engine achieves high performance levels by using an innovatively timed sequence of injecting and igniting fuel and oxidant. The operating cycle of the engine does not utilize a compression process. This permits the injection of fuel and oxidant to be coordinated with the initiation of the combustion process in such a way that the engine achieves high efficiency and provides high torque, while at the same time producing low thermal loading of engine components and low levels of engine noise and vibration.

摘要: A method for measuring the flow rate MAF of cool air entering an intake manifold of a two-stroke engine, the intake manifold being located between a throttle body and an intake system. The method uses a specific prediction model depending on whether the two-stroke engine is subject, on the one hand, to a light load and, on the other hand, to a medium or heavy load. The model suitable for the load is selected using a predetermined threshold and two absolute pressure measurements taken at the intake manifold at crankshaft angles of rotation around top dead center and bottom dead center. Next, a pressure quotient is formed for each model which will be used to deduce the flow rate of cool air entering the intake manifold.

摘要: An internal combustion engine comprising a crankshaft rotatable about an axis, one or more pairs of cylinders opposed from each other on either side of the crankshaft, one or more pairs of pistons alternately moveable within the cylinders by combustion therein, and a common rod connecting the pair of pistons, the pistons and common rod being linearly slideable in a first direction. A linear bearing is disposed on the common rod between the pair of pistons and connects the common rod to the crankshaft, the linear bearing being slideable in a second direction normal to the first direction. As the pair of pistons alternately move within the cylinders, the crankshaft is driven by movement of the common rod and pair of pistons back and forth in the first direction and movement of the linear bearing back and forth in the second direction.

摘要: A combustion engine having a pair of two-chamber cylinders, in which double ended pistons are located and directed toward themselves oppositely by the angle 180° and compressed together via crankshafts consisting of two crank elements, which are linked rotationally backward by a spacer bearing. The compression is realized with the use of two connecting rod pairs, from which each connecting rod is linked on the one side to with one crank element, whereas the second connecting rod ends are linked to one of shafts, out of which each shaft is connected with one of pistons via a valve rod. In the middle of each cylinder's wall the outlet channel of compressed air is located as well as the outlet channel of products of combustion together with air. In the head of each cylinder and in the compartment the fuel injector, the water vapor injector and the ignition element are located.

The cooling jacket at least partially surrounds the cylinder and includes a first cooling passage positioned between the exhaust passage and the first auxiliary exhaust passage, and a second cooling passage positioned between the exhaust passage and the second auxiliary exhaust passage. The cooling jacket on at least the exhaust side of the cylinder comprises an upper portion and a lower portion which are in fluid communication with each other via at least one of the first cooling passage and the second cooling passage.

The asymmetry apportions combustion chamber volume to provide additional clearance on a side of the chamber centerline toward which swirl is directed, thereby giving a fuel plume space to swing without hindrance in response to swirl.
