Abstract: A connector including a plug configured to mechanically mate with a socket to establish a connection from a first conduit to a second conduit. The plug is configured to mechanically engage the first conduit and the socket is configured to mechanically engage the second conduit. In examples, the plug is configured to insert into a socket well of the socket. The connector includes an electromagnet configured to energize and produce a magnetic field when the plug mechanically mates with the socket. The electromagnet is configured such that the magnetic field generates an electromagnetic force on a plug armature of the plug to help sustain the mechanically mating of the plug and the socket. The connector may include a user device configured to provide an output indicating when the plug is mechanically mated or unmated with the socket.

Abstract: A peritoneal dialysis machine that includes a preparator as well as a cycler to form the peritoneal dialysis system. The system delivers purified water into one or more containers with different powders to create a concentrate and then moves this concentrate to a mixing bag to create the peritoneal dialysis fluid (PDF). The cycler then delivers fresh PDF to the patient and removes waste fluid via the drain outlet. A volumetric approach controls the hydraulic flow paths that introduce purified water to the powder concentrates, provide mixing of the concentrate to form the PDF and delivery of the freshly made PDF to the patient. Different configurations of hydraulic flow/pressure generators are provided in the fluid paths to provide optimization of the flow of water through the fluid system to create the correct powder concentrates and subsequent peritoneal dialysis fluid for cycling, for example being provided in a disposable cassette.

Abstract: A system includes a fluid source storing a fluid and a fluid line coupled to the fluid source and configured to pass the fluid therethrough. The system includes a bubble detector coupled to the fluid line downstream of the fluid source, the bubble detector configured to detect bubbles present in the fluid and to generate a bubble detection signal. The system also includes a valve coupled to the fluid line downstream of the fluid source, the valve configured to switch between a first configuration and a second configuration, where in the first configuration the valve directs the fluid through the fluid line and in the second configuration the valve directs the fluid through a drain line. The system further includes a controller coupled to the bubble detector and the valve, the controller configured to receive the bubble detection signal and to control the valve based on the bubble detection signal.
