Abstract: This disclosure relates to a method for temporarily interrupting an extracorporeal treatment of blood of a patient by use of a blood treatment apparatus. The method comprises activating or controlling a control device provided and configured to bring the blood treatment apparatus into a state in which the blood treatment of the patient can be interrupted with the intention to continue the blood treatment. This disclosure further relates to a control device, a blood treatment apparatus, a digital storage means, a computer program product as well as a computer program.

Abstract: Dialysis systems are disclosed comprising new fluid flow circuits. Systems may include blood and dialysate flow paths, where the dialysate flow path includes balancing, mixing, and/or directing circuits. Dialysate preparation may be decoupled from patient dialysis. Circuits may be defined within one or more cassettes. The fluid circuit fluid flow paths may be isolated from electrical components. A gas supply in fluid communication with the dialysate flow path and/or the dialyzer able to urge dialysate through the dialyzer and urge blood back to the patient may be included for certain emergency situations. Fluid handling devices, such as pumps, valves, and mixers that can be actuated using a control fluid may be included. Control fluid may be delivered by an external pump or other device, which may be detachable and/or generally rigid, optionally with a diaphragm dividing the device into first and second compartments.

Abstract: A system for assisting a patient's heart has a pump, an oxygenator, a holder having a pump receiving portion for removably receiving the pump and an oxygenator receiving portion for removably receiving the oxygenator, and a harness configured to surround at least a portion of a patient's torso. The holder is connected to the harness. The system further has a brace connected to at least a portion of the harness. The brace is configured to extend behind a back portion of a user's head and to support tubing connected to at least one of the pump and the oxygenator. A priming tray and wet-to-wet connector connecting the cardiac assist system to the cannula so are also disclosed.

Abstract: Described are fluid pumping and fluid handling systems, which may be suitable for use in medical devices, such as artificial or extracorporeal blood pumping systems. The systems can include a dual housing configuration for pneumatic actuation comprising a main housing containing a pump cassette comprising a pneumatically actuated pump and pneumatically actuated valves. The pump can include a pump actuation chamber and pump pneumatic port, and the valves can each include a valve actuation chamber and valve pneumatic port. Connecting tubes can be used to fluidly connect the pump actuation ports and valve actuation ports to a tube-support housing having a first side receiving one end of each connecting tube and a second side providing a pneumatic interface arranged to connect to an array of pneumatic receptacles on a base unit of the system to facilitate easy, compact and accurate pneumatic interconnection between the pump cassette and the base unit.

Abstract: Disclosed are example embodiments of a dialysis machine having a frame, a cartridge cassette, one or more alignment-locking features, and an actuation mechanism. The frame is fixedly coupled to the dialysis machine, and the cassette is slidably coupled to the frame. The cassette can have one or more track structures, with each of the one or more track structures having a rotor and one or more rollers. The one or more alignment-locking features extend from the frame and are configured to be inserted into one or more alignment features of a disposable cartridge that functions to secure or release the disposable cartridge. The actuation mechanism is made to slide the cassette with respect to the one or more track structures.

Abstract: A blood component sampling cassette which can be more efficiently manufactured at lower cost as compared to a typical cassette, a blood sampling circuit set, and a blood component sampling system. A blood component sampling cassette (22) includes a cassette main body (23) made of a soft material to which heat sterilization is applicable. The cassette main body (23) is provided with a retransfusion line (44). The retransfusion line (44) is provided with a reservoir (47) configured to temporarily store a blood component to be returned to a blood donor. The reservoir (47) is pressed by a retransfusion pump (49) to discharge the blood component from the reservoir (47).

Abstract: A dialysis fluid system includes a dialysis fluid inlet; a dialysis fluid outlet; a pump positioned and arranged to pump dialysis fluid through the dialysis fluid inlet and the dialysis fluid outlet; and an inductive heater located between the dialysis fluid inlet and the dialysis fluid outlet, the inductive heater including a fluid flowpath positioned and arranged to receive non-heated dialysis fluid from the dialysis fluid inlet and to output heated dialysis fluid to the a dialysis fluid outlet, a conductive heater element located within the fluid flowpath so as to be or act as a secondary coil of a transformer, and a primary coil of the transformer located outside of the fluid flowpath and positioned so as to magnetically induce a current into the conductive heater element, causing the conductive heater element and surrounding fluid to heat.
