摘要: A component of a crawler type machine is hardened by explosive depth hardening. The component is typically a crawler track shoe (10), and the roller path surface (11) of the track shoe and immediate underlying metal portion are pre-hardened by placing explosive charge (15) on the surface of the track shoe (10), and detonating the explosive charge to impart a high force on the surface and underlying metal portion for a short duration. The resultant shock wave causes high-velocity deformation at a high stress level, which leads to intensive development of plastic displacement at microscopic size. This increases the hardness and the strength of the surface and underlying metal portion. The surface (11) may be hardened by repetitive explosive depth hardening. Grooves (20) may also be formed in the roller path (11) to accommodate any flow of material. Explosive depth hardening can be applied to other surfaces of the track shoe (10), such as the pin bore of a connection lug, or to other components such as a drive tumbler of the crawler.

The body has a head portion at one end for engaging with a knuckle and a butt portion at an opposing end for engaging with a yoke. The knuckle extends between a protruding portion that engages a complementary knuckle of a coupler for an adjoining rail wagon, and a tail extending along a longitudinal axis for coupling the knuckle with the head portion of the coupler. The head portion comprises an interior wall defining an interior cavity for engaging the tail of the knuckle. The coupler is configured such that in use loading induced in the coupler is transferred between the knuckle and the head portion along a substantially evenly distributed load path.

摘要: A wear assembly for attachment to a digging device. The wear assembly can include a wear member arranged to be assembled with the digging device in an assembled condition and a lock mounted to the digging device. The lock can be adjustable between an extended configuration and a retracted configuration and can include at least one locking element that projects outwardly from its mounting in the extended configuration of the lock and is operative to be displaced inwardly from the extended configuration towards its mounting to adopt the retracted configuration of the lock. With the wear member in the assembled condition with the digging device, movement of the at least one locking element from the extended configuration towards the retracted configuration can cause the wear member to be locked to the digging device in the assembled condition.

The mill liner assembly further comprises at least one passage having an interior wall extending through in the liner for receiving the head nut. The head nut includes a leading end and a trailing end being spaced apart along an axis. The head nut also comprises a body having an interior bore extending along the axis operative to receive a shank, the shank forming part of the coupling, and an engaging portion connected to or integrally formed with the body to engage the interior wall of the passage to retain the head nut in the at least one passage in the mill liner. Also disclosed is a method of installation of a head nut in a mill liner.
