Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a modular housing structure formed of Reinforced Insulated XPS Styrofoam Panels, RIPs. XPS Styrofoam is an extremely durable material with excellent insulator properties and good structural integrity that can be used to assemble and disassemble large structures quickly and easily due to its light weight. The structure is secured with a set of reinforcing elements that solidify and form connections between the XPS Styrofoam wall panels. The modular housing structure may comprise an inner wall and outer wall with a void between them for improved heat retention, and has a regular arrangement of openings on each wall element to facilitate the quick addition of standard house fixings and circuitry.
Abstract:
A combined toileting and hygiene system for a cat, the system comprising: a support device having a first shelving level and a second shelving level, the second shelving level being vertically elevated with respect to the first shelving level; a litter tray associated with the first shelving level; and a container on the second shelving level which is dimensioned to hold one or more hygiene items for the litter tray.
Abstract:
A system for dynamically provisioning and/or measuring green power and brown power over an energy provisioning grid and related techniques are described.
Abstract:
Some embodiments are associated with an X-ray source configured to generate X-rays directed toward an object, wherein the X-ray source is to: (i) generate a first energy X-ray pulse, (ii) switch to generate a second energy X-ray pulse, and (iii) switch back to generate another first energy X-ray pulse. A detector may be associated with multiple image pixels, and the detector includes, for each pixel: an X-ray sensitive element to receive X-rays; a first storage element and associated switch to capture information associated with the first energy X-ray pulses; and a second storage element and associated switch to capture information associated with the second energy X-ray pulse. A controller may synchronize the X-ray source and detector.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method includes determining that a connection to an update server should be established. The method also includes establishing a wireless connection with the update server. The method further includes sending at least a VIN number to the update server and downloading one or more module updates corresponding to the sent VIN number. Also, the method includes verifying the one or more downloaded updates. The method further includes flashing one or more modules to which the one or more updates correspond. Additionally, the method includes verifying the functionality of each module which has been flashed.
Abstract:
A hygienic cosmetic applicator system comprising an instrument-like gripping body (2) that has a holder on at least one end to releasably grip single use applicator (12) tips. The gripping body (2) has a handle (4) for grasping with the fingers, a tapered shaft (6) emerging from at least one end, and a apertured holder that is terminally formed onto or into a shafts (6) tapered end. A holder may comprise a ringlet (8) with a centrally formed aperture (10) that is formed onto the shafts (6) tapered end, or alternatively, a suitably deep aperture (10) that is formed into the shafts (6) tapered end. By contrast, an applicator (12) has a shaft-like inserting member (14) to frictionally plug into an aperture (10) and furthermore, a terminally formed base (6) on its non-inserting end for holding an applicating member therein or thereon.
Abstract:
This invention teaches a methodology and an optical apparatus that provides long-term, archival storage using a chemically stable, high-resolution, photosensitive emulsion, such as silver halide, for the long-term, archival storage and retrieval of data, images and text. Multiple state data substantially increasing data density is stored as vertical diffraction gratings in the archival photosensitive emulsion. The data can be read out in parallel, substantially increasing retrieval speeds beyond that of current optical and magnetic techniques.
Abstract:
A system and method for a user interface to manage the recording, downloading and sharing of content from multiple sources are described. Various embodiments allow requesting content from a service provider by a user and receiving a user interface from the service provider, where the user interface indicates the availability of the content via multiple sources, and where the multiple sources include an Internet Protocol (IP) network, a broadcast service and a peer-to-peer network. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a method and associated apparatus for reducing the time required to scan an incoming satellite transmission power spectrum for available signals and to determine the characteristics of those signals. The frequency range of interest is scanned in narrow slices to determine approximate input power within each slice. Center frequencies and symbol rates of individual transponders are then estimated based upon these input power approximations.
Abstract:
A video camera system includes: a video sensor providing image data; a low power imminent event detector coupled to the sensor which receives the image data from the video sensor and processes the received image data to detect changes in the image data and thereby detect an imminent event and produces an event signal on detection of an imminent event; and a main event processor also coupled to the video sensor to receive the image data, the main event processor being a higher power device than the imminent event detector, the main event detector having a dormant mode in which the main event detector consumes little or no power and a fully active powered up mode, wherein: the main event processor switches from the dormant mode to the fully active mode in response to the event signal.
