摘要: Multiple corruptions and/or erasures in data storage or data communication systems are corrected. An encoder generates M of parity fields from N data channels. Each item of the generated parity fields is the result of simple exclusive-or operations on one item from one or more data fields and possibly one item from one or more of the other parity fields. A decoder can regenerate as many as M missing or corrupted fields of either data or parity using combinations of correct and/or previously corrected items as inputs using M independent parity equations to solve for and correct each missing or corrupted item in turn.

摘要: A method and apparatus redundantly store data, in particular video data objects, in a distributed computer system having at least three processor systems, each processor system being connected in point to point two way channel interconnection with each other processor system. The data is stored in a redundant fashion both at the computer system level as well as the processor system level. Accordingly, the failure of a single processor does not adversely affect the integrity of the data. The computer system can also overlay a switching system connected in a ring fashion for providing a fault tolerance to the failure of a single connected processor system at the switch level. Accordingly, there results a fault tolerant data distribution system.

摘要: A message transfer arrangement includes a client node and a server node interconnected by a data link. The client node sequentially receives requests from user applications and generates, in response to each request, command messages for transmission by the interface. Each command message includes a command, a transmit slot identifier identifying the request in the sequence of requests received by the request receiver, and a transmit sequence identifier identifying the channel message in the sequence of command relating to the request. The selection of whether to transmit a command message related to one request or to a subsequent request is based on a received slot identifier and a received sequence identifier in a response message. The server node receives command messages from, and transmits response messages to, the client node over the data link. It selectively executes the command contained in each command message and generates, in response thereto, a response message including a response slot identifier and response sequence identifier corresponding to the commanmd slot identifier and command sequence identifier. The determination of whether to execute a command in a command message is based on the command slot identifier and command sequence identifier of the received command message and the command slot identifier and command sequence identifier of the command message containing the previously executed command.

摘要: A redundant array includes a plurality of disks, a bus coupling the disks, a receiving device, and a device to reconstruct a block stored in one of the disks. The device reconstructs the block with associated data and parity blocks from other disks. The device transmits the reconstructed block to the receiving device in response to the one of the disks being slowly responding. A method includes requesting a first disk to transmit a first block, reconstructing, when necessary, the first block from associated data stored in other disks of a RAID configuration, and transmitting the reconstructed block directly to a receiving device. The transmitting is in response to the first disk not transmitting the block in a predetermined time.

摘要: Described are computerized methods and apparatuses, including computer program products, for network virtualization. An intercept device receives a DNS response message from a DNS server. The DNS response includes a domain name, a network address associated with the domain name, and a destination address of a first network device. The intercept device determines whether the domain name satisfies a DNS intercept criterion. If the domain name satisfies the DNS intercept criterion, then a request intercept criterion is updated to include the network address associated with the domain name. The DNS response message is transmitted on to the first network device by the intercept server.
