The method and system include planning for a pressure gradient test by using expected parameters and statistical expected error analysis to set the actual pressure gradient test parameters within an acceptable range of reliability. The method and system may account for one or more fluids within a formation and may also perform fluid contact analysis as part of planning the overall pressure gradient test. The method and system also include performing the planned pressure gradient test and comparing the measured data and statistical measured data error analysis with statistical expected error analysis of the measured data. The method and system may also include the graphical display of both the expected and measured data to optimize the pressure gradient analysis and the pressure gradient test procedure.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to a method and system for determining parameters inside a subterranean formation. In accordance with the present invention, a plurality of wireless data sensors are injected into the pores or fractures of a subterranean formation. The data sensors includes sensors that record parameters such as temperature, pressure and certain time stamps. Either autonoumously or upon command from a data interrogator tool located down hole, the plurality of data sensors form a wireless ad hoc network and telemeter the recorded data back to the data interrogator tool, which in turn communicates the data to a microprocessor located at the surface. Based on these data, the spatial distribution of the sensors and formation parameters such as temperature and pressure at each data sensor inside the subterranean formation can be obtained.

    摘要: A method is provided for analyzing suspended particulate and liquid medium in a fluid stream by transmitting acoustic signals into the fluid, detecting scattered acoustic energy, and determining a parameter related to the density and compressibility of the fluid. In one embodiment, the fluid analysis tool comprises two transmitting transducers intermittently emitting acoustic signals, and two receiving transducers being differently azimuthally positioned with respect to the transmitters. The ratio of the amplitude of scattered signals measured by the two receivers as a result of emission from the first and second transmitters are used to calculate the parameter. In another embodiment, a tool comprising one transmitter and at least three receivers with azimuthal angles in both forward and backward scattering regions with respect to the incident wave is disclosed. The scattering signal amplitudes normalized by the amplitude from one of the receivers is used to identify and monitor the system.

Also, a method for pumping fluid into a wellbore using an apparatus, the method comprising inserting a housing including a coiled tubing and a plunger into the wellbore, wherein the plunger is located at a terminal end of the coiled tubing, and wherein the housing includes a first port and a plunger includes a second port. The method further including moving the plunger longitudinally upward and downward within the housing wherein a stroke length of the plunger is limited during the moving the plunger and extracting fluid from the wellbore. The method further including extracting fluid from the wellbore, pulling the plunger longitudinally upward until the first and second ports are aligned, and circulating fluid into the wellbore through the coiled rubbing and first and second ports discharging into an annulus of the wellbore.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for in-situ characterization of downhole fluids in a wellbore using ultrasonic acoustic signals. Measurements of the speed of sound, attenuation of the signal, and acoustic back-scattering are used to provide qualitative and quantitative data as to the composition, nature of solid particulates, compressibility, bubble point, and the oil/water ratio of the fluid. The tool generally comprises three sets of acoustic transducers mounted perpendicular to the direction of the flow. These transducers are capable of operating at different frequencies so that the spectrum of the acoustic signal can be optimized. The apparatus is capable of operating downhole to provide real time information as to conditions in the well.
