    摘要: A flexible membrane disk diffuser having an improved arrangement for sealing the membrane to the diffuser body. An enlarged sealing bead on the circumference of the membrane fits in an annular channel on the diffuser body. A retainer ring threads onto the diffuser body to compress the sealing bead against a base surface of the channel. A discontinuity on the base surface provides an effective seal with the bead without requiring undue tightening force of the retainer ring. The discontinuity may take the form of a ridge or a rut on the base surface of the channel.

The media takes the form of a cluster of individual flexible elements having free ends. The media are submerged in a liquid such as a water or wastewater treatment basin or an aquaculture environment. The media are characterized by the ability to promote and retain microbial growth. The media clusters have substantial flow through thicknesses to provide a three dimensional effect along with baffling for increased contact with the liquid being treated. The media may be thin strips constructed to avoid sticking together to allow maximum exposed surface area. The media clusters can create oxic, anoxic and anaerobic environments for maximum treatment during flow through the media cluster. The flexibility of the media elements and their free ends automatically dislodges excessive biomass buildup to avoid clogging of the media.

    摘要: A wate water aeration system in which tubular diffusers are arranged with short and long diffuser assemblies alternating along the length of each air lateral submerged in the treatment basin. This arrangement provides application of air which is widely distributed in the basin and descreases the upward water velocity to increase the air bubble residence time for enhanced oxygen transfer efficiency. When plural air laterals are used, each long diffuser assembly is axially aligned with a short diffuser assembly on the adjacent air lateral. Each long diffuser can either be constructed to discharge air along its entire length or it can include an imperforate pipe section which occupies one half of the diffuser length adjacent to the air lateral.

    摘要: An improved mounting bracket for mounting diffusers on submerged air lateral pipes in a waste water treatment system. Each mounting bracket includes a pair of complemental saddle sections which can be clamped securely yet releasably on the air lateral with an outlet spout of the saddle in registration with a discharge port in the bottom of the air lateral. A Tee fitting has a pipe nipple connected with its inlet, and the pipe nipple can be threaded into the outlet spout. Virtually any type of diffuser can be solvent welded to each outlet of the Tee fitting. The mounting bracket surrounds and reinforces the air lateral at the diffuser connection point and takes advantage of relatively large diameter pipe at the threaded connection between the outlet spout and pipe nipple. All parts can be PVC or a similar plastic and can withstand the stresses which are applied because of the structural strength of the diffuser mounting arrangement.
