摘要: The disclosed lagoon biological treatment system helps existing wastewater treatment facilities meet stricter discharge permits mandated by the EPA utilizing a facility's existing wastewater treatment infrastructure. Influent is pumped into and processed in an aerated or non-aerated lagoon system, thus initially treating the wastewater to reduce BOD5 (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and TSS (Total Suspended Solids) to approximately 20-30 mg/L. Then the wastewater is transferred to and processed in a nitrification reactor, where sufficient nitrifying bacteria is present to reduce nitrogen levels to regulation-acceptable levels without needing to regulate temperature of the water in the nitrification reactor. Wastewater may also be further processed in a denitrifying reactor if necessary to meet local requirement. Post-nitrification polishing of the wastewater is foregone.

摘要: A completely biological method for removing a first group of micropollutants of pharmaceutical origin and a second group of micropollutants of pharmaceutical origin from raw wastewater includes: providing a first buffer tank upstream of a bioreactor; providing a moving bed membrane bioreactor (MB-MBR) for developing biomass growth both on a fixed support and in suspension in a form of flocs, and on mobile supports, the bioreactor obtaining an effluent with a COD concentration of organic matter of less than 50 mg l−1 and a total nitrogen concentration of less than 15 mg l−1; providing a biofiltration tank, separate from the first buffer tank of the bioreactor, that includes one or more biologically activated carbon (BAC) columns containing activated carbon; supplying the first buffer tank upstream of the bioreactor with raw wastewater containing micropollutants of pharmaceutical origin; pretreating the wastewater by passing the wastewater through a fine mesh sieve.

摘要: A system for reducing total dissolved solids in wastewater can include a vertical reactor that can include a flexible sheet material, where the flexible sheet material can be configured to facilitate the growth and attachment of an algal biofilm. The vertical reactor can include a shaft, where the shaft can be associated with and can support the flexible sheet material, and a drive motor, where the drive motor can be coupled with the shaft such that the flexible sheet material can be selectively actuated. The system can include a fluid reservoir containing a portion of wastewater through which the flexible sheet material is configured to pass as well as a stressor operably configured to stimulate the algae to produce an extracellular polymeric substance. A method of reducing total dissolved solids in wastewater includes moving an algal biofilm through the wastewater and moving the algal biofilm through a gas.

摘要: A system for transferring marine life within an aquaculture facility including a plurality of segregated storage facilities each containing water for marine life, maintained within a predetermined temperature range and supported at independent ground levels. The storage facilities are successively disposed and structured to contain marine life at different stages of growth. A transfer assembly includes a path of fluid flow interconnecting successive ones of said plurality of storage facilities in fluid communication with one another, wherein at least a majority of a length of said path of fluid flow is disposed beneath the independent ground levels at a predetermined depth, which is sufficient to facilitate maintenance of the path of fluid flow within the predetermined temperature range, via geothermal cooling. The transfer assembly may also connect a holding facility, which may be dimensioned and structured to transfer mature marine life, possibly on an on-demand basis, to the harvesting facility.

摘要: The invention relates to a system and method for treating wastewater onboard a marine vessel or other limited space application where wastewater treatment is required. In one embodiment of the invention, two polar opposite wastewater treatment processes are incorporated into the same treatment system. The system is a hybrid treatment unit that combines a conventional wastewater treatment using a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) process-based biological treatment unit in combination with a novel electrochemical advanced oxidation process (EAOP) via an in-situ sodium hypochlorite recirculation. The clarified and disinfected effluent from this hybrid treatment unit is filtered to remove residual TSS. The filtered and disinfected effluent is discharged after dechlorination/neutralization. On-site maintenance disinfectant can be produced via the electrochemical/electrochlorination/electro-oxidation process and used for both treatment unit cleaning and disinfection. Additionally, the treatment unit provides a wholly separate stream of electrolysis generated disinfectant for surface disinfection purposes.
