A computer system and a control method thereof, the computer system including: a processor which executes a program; a communication unit which communicates with an external device; a main body which is provided with the processor. A cover which can be opened and shut with regard to the main body; an open/shut sensor which senses whether the cover is open or shut; and a controller which interrupts an operation of the communication unit if the open/shut sensor senses that the cover is shut.

A portable computer system includes a portable computer equipped with a graphic chip, and an LCD monitor receiving a video signal from the graphic chip and displaying the video signal. The portable computer system further includes an external video signal input part provided at the portable computer and receiving an external video signal from an external computer, an A/D converter provided at the portable computer and converting the external video signal inputted through the external video signal input part into a digital signal, and a control part controlling the video signal and the digital signal from the graphic chip and the A/D converter to be outputted to the LCD monitor. With this configuration, the present invention provides a portable computer system enhancing the utility of the LCD monitor by receiving an external video signal from an external computer and displaying it on an LCD monitor.

A docking unit is detachably attached to the main body, and a network switching part is installed in the docking unit. The network switching part allows the network controller to selectively access either an inner network or an outer network. A switching controller is installed in a side of either the main body or the docking unit, and controls the network switching part to access either the inner network or the outer network, and controls the first disk switching part to disconnect the first HDD from the system if the network controller accesses the outer network.
