Abstract:
A continuous mini-flow irrigation device wherein a metering cone having a metering slot therein is adjustably inserted through a resilient washer for adjustably metering flow through the irrigation device. Full flow through the device is achieved when the metering cone is fully inserted through the washer, which insures that the metering slot will not become plugged with debris and further wherein under varying pressure conditions the washer will be deformed into the metering slot to maintain a uniform continuous flow from the irrigation device.
Abstract:
An automatic livestock sprayer including frame means having means for confining the path of livestock traveling therethrough, the frame means including a base to one end of which is pivotally connected a treadle platform over which the livestock is constrained to pass, and a pair of insecticide pump and treadle supporting hydraulic pressure cylinders fixed to opposite corners of the frame at one end thereof, the pressure cylinders supporting the free end of the treadle platform and effecting automatic spraying of insecticide on livestock stepping on and depressing the treadle platform, said pressure cylinders having means regulating pressure and spray rate regardless of the weight of the livestock or speed of treadle action, and means for effecting repositioning of the treadle platform.
Abstract:
A combination irrigation and temperature control system for plants and the like, includes a spray producing fitting connected at its opposite ends with a water conduit and an air conduit, respectively. The fitting has a chamber therein into which air under pressure flows and a plurality of air openings in the side thereof, through which the air exits the chamber under pressure. The fitting includes separate areas on the outer surface thereof over which water is caused to flow in thin sheets, and the air openings extend through these areas, so that jets of air exiting the openings intercept the sheets of water and produce either a fine mist or fog or a spray of water droplets, depending upon the air pressure, whereby the fog produced can be used to provide a cover blanket to prevent or block heat radiation from leaf and soil surfaces, and the spray can be used to coat the leaf surfaces, whereby the latent heat of converting the spray to liquid and the liquid to ice warms the leaves to prevent freezing thereof. The system operates at low water pressure and uses very little water, and is thus exceptionally economical.
Abstract:
A frame means is supported by wheels mounted on an axle which is removably connected to the frame means. Reel support means is carried by the frame and is drivingly connected with drive means supported by the frame means. The reel support means includes a plurality of drive members. A removable reel has means for receiving said drive members to provide a driving connection therewith. A rotatable guide portion is mounted in spaced relationship to the reel. The guide means is mounted on a support portion which is pivotally connected with the frame means, and locking means is provided for locking the support portion in desired operative position.
