Abstract: A method of preparing a curved structural glazing composite comprises providing an initial composite comprising a metal frame and a glass panel with a silicone sealant disposed therebetween and cold bending the initial composite to give the curved structural glazing composite. A ratio of a thickness of the metal frame to a thickness of the silicone sealant in the curved structural glazing composite is less than 10.

Abstract: Provided is a composition comprising an aqueous medium, and further comprising, dispersed in the aqueous medium: (a) particles (a) that comprise a maleated polyolefin (a), and (b) particles (b) that comprise an acrylic polymer (b), wherein the acrylic polymer (b) comprises, by weight based on the solid weight of the acrylic polymer (b): (i) 0.1% to 10% polymerized units of hydroxyl functional acrylic monomer, (ii) 1% to 20% polymerized units of carboxyl functional monomer, and (iii) 70% to 98.9% polymerized units of one or more additional monomer (iii) selected from the group consisting of acrylic monomers, styrenic monomers, and mixtures thereof, wherein the maleated polyolefin (a) is present in an amount of 1% to 19% by weight based on the sum of the solid weights of maleated polyolefin (a) and acrylic polymer (b). Also provided is a method of binding fibers using the composition.

Abstract: A falling film apparatus has tube inserts located at the top end of heat exchange tubes. The tube inserts have internal circumferential ribs. The ribs distribute a process flow into a uniform, annual film within the tube inserts and the tubes, and eliminate dry spots, even at low operating rates. This provides greater operating latitude, can improve operating efficiency and can reduce fouling.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing an aqueous dispersion of acrylate-siloxane copolymer particles as described herein. The polymer particles comprise structural units of an acrylate monomer; an acid monomer; and a siloxane acrylate monomer of formula I: where R, R1, R2, Y and x are as defined herein. The method provides an efficient way to prepare a high solids content aqueous dispersion of siloxane-acrylate hybrid copolymers with efficient incorporation of siloxane acrylate monomers, low residual monomer, and low generation of unwanted coagulum. The dispersion is useful for forming coatings with improved hydrophobicity, stain resistance, and aesthetic/haptic properties compared with conventional all-acrylic compositions.
