摘要: The present application describes, inter alia, novel techniques to perform pre-evaluations of multiple Wi-Fi Access Points (AP) and Access Networks (AN). A pre-evaluation determines whether or not an AP is connected to the Internet and measures the path performance that the AN, via that particular AP, can offer between the mobile device and a pre-specified Internet host. In addition, the invention also discloses methods to determine whether the AN requires a user to actively authenticate themselves through a redirect log-on page.

摘要: A system and method facilitates the matching of service providers based on certain criteria such as, but not limited to, location of the provider in relation to a customer location, customer requests based on the location of the customer, the type of service requested and other possible attributes such as customer profile, customer past behavior and preferences and service price and quality. Service providers create real-time reverse auctions by using advanced data collection, filtering and disseminating algorithms. In addition, market-makers can provide value-added services, such as real-time traffic conditions and route planning, to their local affiliates. Such a scheme can allow market-makers to economically service customer requests by leveraging the real-time conditions and circumstances of their vast network of local service affiliates. Open competition will drive down prices for these services and increase revenues for the market-makers who will be able to service customer requests at the best prices available. This system will also benefit local service affiliates by notifying them and allowing them to compete for a broader number of service requests. A feedback mechanism will also encourage superior customer service since affiliates will want to ensure that they are considered for more jobs.

摘要: Data packets are transmitted from a first access network to a first interface of a multiple interface device (MID), and identical data packets are transmitted concurrently from a second access network to a second interface of the MID. Some of the data packets that are transmitted to the MID from the first access network are not received by the first interface. The MID inspects identifiers of data packets from the first and second interfaces in order to send to the application a stream including all of the data packets. For example, the MID sends to the application the data packets from the first interface, buffers the data packets from the second interface, and sends data packets from the buffer to the application upon detecting that data packets in the buffer were transmitted to the first interface but not received by the first interface.

摘要: An arrangement including a scannable matrix for predicting the occurrence of a future collision of frequency hops of the channel hopping patterns on the respective activated first paths of a Bluetooth packet transmission system is described. A first coordinate of the matrix defines columns representative of a selectable window of N successive future time slots of the channel hopping patterns, and a second coordinate of the matrix defines rows each exhibiting the successive frequency hops of the patterns segments transmitted on a separate one of the activated channels during such window. The first coordinate is scanned to detect the occurrence, if any, of identical frequency hops appearing at an intersection of the then-scanned column and at least a pair of the rows. If a particular scan does not detect an occurrence of such identical frequency hops in any of the time slots of the scanned window, the first coordinate may be incremented by a selected number of time slots at the end of the scan, and the scan is then successively repeated for each new window that results. If and when identical frequency hops are detected in a particular future time slot during a scan, the channel hopping pattern(s) on a subset of the affected channels may be suitably altered to avoid the predicted collision.

摘要: Method for selecting IP data packet segments in an all-IP architecture that supports CDMA soft handoff via IP multicasting, wherein both the mobile terminal and IP backbone network receive a plurality of identical, redundant CDMA IP data packets. A best IP data packet is created by first, receiving a plurality of IP data packets from a plurality of corresponding base stations, second, separating those IP data packets into data packet segments comprising separate time intervals, and third, employing different metric standards to determine which of those data packet segments received for each time interval is the best data packet segment. The best data packet segments are determined by creating a quality matrix that represents the quality of each data packet segment for each time interval. A quality function is then computed for each time interval to determine which data segment is the best for that particular time interval.
