摘要： A fluid drainage catheter comprises a catheter tube having a proximal and a distal end and a cylindrical wall with a lumen extending generally from the proximal to the distal end to permit the passage of fluid therethrough. The catheter tube is formed such that the proximal end has a closed tip for insertion of the catheter tube into a body cavity and the distal end has an opening for the drainage of from the body cavity through the lumen of the catheter tube. The cylindrical wall has an outer surface with at least one defined external flow path extending generally in a longitudinal direction from a point in proximity to the closed tip to a point distally thereof. With this arrangement, at least one drainage eye is associated with the defined external flow path and extends completely through the catheter tube from the outer surface to the lumen to permit fluid in the flow path to pass through the drainage eye into the lumen.

摘要： A device and method for collection of a urine sample is disclosed which comprises a channel, an opening in the channel, and a collector associated with the opening. The channel is formed so that urine can flow through it from a first end to a second end thereof. The opening is provided in the channel at a point between the first and the second ends thereof. The collector is associated with the opening in the channel to be able to receive urine therein. In one embodiment, a member can cover the opening to permit urine to pass through it after contact with urine. Specifically, the member may dissolve or otherwise permit urine to pass through the opening after a period of time to test a urine sample which is not from the initial flow of urine to avoid bacteria contamination.

摘要： The urine collection assembly and method includes a catheter having a proximal insertion end and a distal end. The distal end of the catheter has only a cylindrical barrel portion of a tapered funnel integral therewith. The urine collection assembly further includes a urine collection bag which includes a cylindrical attachment port. The cylindrical barrel portion is sealed in the cylindrical attachment port and permits urine to pass into the urine collection bag.
