    摘要: Here is described the manufacture of a cured urea/formaldehyde resin foam having a shrinkage on drying of less than 20% by volume, by a method which includes the step of producing a homogeneous wet foam from an aqueous resin solution and an aqueous solution of a hardener for the resin, the freshly made wet foam having a total reactive resin solids content of at least 35% by weight. Apparatus for producing the cured resin foam includes a foaming column having upstream and downstream regions constituted by different inert materials.

    摘要: A method for the manufacture of amino-formaldehyde resins of low water content. Amino compound and formaldehyde or paraformaldehyde are reacted at a temperature about 60.degree. C. in the liquid phase, the liquid phase being ensured by a reactive modifier. The reactive modifier is a compound which is capable of taking part in the reaction, and also capable of modifying the mixture of reactants to be liquid at the temperature at which the reaction is to be carried out.

A liquid foamable composition is made by dispersing a curing catalyst and a blowing agent in the precondensate and the composition is heated to cause the blowing agent to form a foam and the precondensate to cure.

    摘要: A method of filling a cavity in a building block with aminoplast resin foam comprises locating a template (6,7) against and in sealing relation to that face of the block having said cavity opening therefrom characterized in that an aperture (5) defined in said template and at least as large as the opening in the block which communicates with the cavity is aligned and registered with said opening, followed by passing curable aminoplast resin foam into the cavity under pressure to fill said cavity and form an upstand (9) of foam relative to the face of the block in the space defined by the thickness of the template, and then removing the template to leave at least some of said upstand projecting from said face.
