The plug may be constructed with subassemblies, each of which has a lossy central portion. Conductive members embedded within an insulative housing of the subassemblies may be used to electrically connect ground conductors within the subassemblies. Further, the connector may have a quick connect locking screw that can be engaged by pressing on the screw, but requires rotation of the screw to remove. Additionally, a ferrule may be used in making a mechanical connection between a cable bundle and a plug and making an electrical connection between a braid of the cable bundle and a conductive shell of the plug. The ferrule may be in multiple pieces for easy attachment while precluding deformation of the cable, which disrupts electrical performance.

摘要： There is disclosed a two-piece electrical connector assembly having a first electrical connector and a second electrical connector. The first electrical connector includes a plurality of first signal conductors disposed along first and second sides of a first insulative housing and first ground plates disposed along the first and second sides of the first insulative housing and positioned adjacent the plurality of first signal conductors. The first electrical connector defines a slot for receiving an edge of a first printed circuit board. The second electrical connector includes a plurality of second signal conductors disposed along first and second sides of a second insulative housing and second ground plates disposed along the first and second sides of the second insulative housing and positioned adjacent the plurality of second signal conductors. Each of the second ground plates has a surface with a first edge and a second edge, at least one of the first edge or the second edge being bent in the direction toward the corresponding second signal conductor. When the first electrical connector and the second electrical connector are mated, the first signal conductors and corresponding second signal conductors are substantially enclosed and shielded by the first and second ground plates.

摘要： A waferized connector connects to two twinax cables. The connector includes a molded lead frame, ground sleeve, twinax cable, and overmolded strain relief. The lead frame is molded to retain a lead frame containing both differential signal pins and ground pins. Termination sections are provided at the rear of the lead frame to terminate each of the signal wires of the cables to respective signal lands. The ground sleeve has two general H-shape structures connected together by a center cross-support member. Each of the H-shaped structures having curved legs, each of which fits over the signal wires of one of the twinax cables. The wings of the ground sleeve are terminated to the ground lands of the lead frame and the drain wire of the cable is terminated to the ground sleeve to terminate the drain wire to a ground reference. The ground sleeve controls the impedance in the termination area of the cables, where the twinax foil is removed to expose the wires for termination to the lands. The ground sleeve also shields the cables to reduce crosstalk between themselves and adjacent wafers when arranged in a connector housing. A conductive slab member is formed over the sleeve to provide a capacitive coupling with the conductive foil of the signal cable.

摘要： A waferized connector connects to two twinax cables. The connector includes a molded lead frame, ground sleeve, twinax cable, and overmolded strain relief.
