    摘要: An electron beam tube of the type having a fine conductive mesh adjacent a target is described, the fine mesh being clamped around its periphery between two annular members. An annular damping washer of flexible material is also clamped between the two members and extends inwards towards the picture area of the fine mesh. The two members are in addition dished away from one another and from the fine mesh in a region inwards of the clamping region so that the annular damping washer exhibits corrugations in the space between the fine mesh and the dished portion of the Clamping member which contacts the washer, the washer thereby contacting the fine mesh at a number of different places and restricting the degree to which the washer may lift away from the conductive mesh.

    摘要: The invention relates to resonant devices such as cavity magnetrons having a plurality of resonant cavities in a common block of which at least two adjacent cavities exhibit magnetic fields of opposing phase. In order to achieve coupling to or from the device a co-axial transmission line formed by an annular hole of constant cross sectional dimensions is provided extending into the block, such that a portion of the annular hole to one side of the inner wall forming member breaks into one of the two cavities and a portion of the annular hole to the opposite side of the inner wall forming member breaks into the other of the two cavities. The transmission line may be used to effect tuning of the device by coupling tuning means to the end of the hole remote from the cavities.

Such velocity tapering is achieved in the present invention by varying the resonant frequency of the coupling elements coupling adjacent cavities of the slow wave structure in accordance with a predetermined tapering law so that the resonant frequency of the coupling elements towards the output end of the tube approaches the resonant frequency of the cavities.

    摘要: An electron discharge tube, for example a travelling wave tube, which employs a periodic magnetic field, is provided with at least one pair of adjacent magnets with larger spacing in the axial direction than is employed between the magnets of other adjacent pairs. The perturbation of the field due to the larger spacing is reduced by providing only one pole piece interposed between the two magnets on each side of the larger spacing. The remaining pairs of magnets may have normally spaced pole pieces. The larger spacing may be occupied by a waveguide connection.
