Abstract:
Damp sodium bicarbonate filter cake is pre-dried and calcined to produce light soda as in a process comprising a carbon dioxide ebullated fluid bed pre-dryer working in connected series relationship with a plurality of carbon dioxide ebullated fluid bed/bag filter calcination systems such that bicarbonate decomposition during pre-drying is minimized and the thermal treatment of small particles during calcination is optimized.
Abstract:
A dry particulate sulfite-containing material produced in a flue gas desulfurization process is oxidized and agglomerated in a fluidized bed reactor, wherein the material is fluidized in an oxygen-containing gas. The oxygen-containing gas which is supplied to the fluidized bed has a temperature below the agglomeration temperature of said particulate material. Due to the exothermic character of the oxidation, the temperature of the fluidized bed is maintained above the agglomeration temperature of the particulate material. Gas with entrained particles leaving the fluidzed bed are cooled during its passing through the freeboard of the fluidized bed reactor, whereby problems due to sticking of said entrained particles are avoided. At least a part of said entrained particles are recycled to the fluidized bed reactor.A fluidized bed reactor is provided suitable for performing the combined oxidation and agglomeration.
Abstract:
A mixer-granulator, preferably a spiral path granulator, is combined with a pneumatic conveyor dryer in a process for converting a solution or suspension into a dried particulate product. In a preferred embodiment, the particles formed in the mixer-granulator show a non-equilibrium moisture distribution with an interior part of lower moisture content and a surface part of higher moisture content.
Abstract:
A process for continuously producing coated particles, and in particular, particles in which the coating is uniform, contiguous and of minimal thickness is described, together with an apparatus for conducting the coating process in which a plurality of coating cells connected in series are provided wherein the particles are pneumatically conveys during the coating application and in which controlled recirculation of particles occurs within each cell and a controlled spray is applied to the particles in order to produce a substantially uniform distribution of coating.

Abstract:
A method and system for separating an aqueous suspension containing fibrous particles into fractions of different average characteristics. The suspension to be separated is supplied to a separator disc rotating in a horizontal plane in the upper part of a chamber, in which collecting means are arranged in different zones to receive material dispersed from the disc. The method and system are effective for the separation of paper pulp suspensions such as groundwood pulp, chemical pulp, sediment or waste paper pulp into fractions of different fibre size and for the cleaning of paper pulp suspensions for impurity particles such as sand, shives and splinters. Another field of application is the separation of mineral wool suspensions into fractions consisting mainly of fibrous and spherical particles, respectively.
