    摘要: In an apparatus containing rotating filter media that removes solids from a fluid stream, the invention provides devices and methods for improved cleaning of the filter media. Solids trapped on the filter media are removed by the application of a pressurized fluid spray system. The spray system has nozzles distributed across a spray arm. The nozzles create a generally elliptical spray fan pattern in contact with the filter media. The nozzles are spaced and angularly oriented on the spray arm so that adjacent spray fan contact areas overlap. This distribution and orientation equalizes the distribution of the washing flow and hydraulic energy over the filter area, thereby maintaining the filter material in a more uniformly clean and effective filtering condition.

    摘要: A novel suspension system for track-laying vehicles such as snowmobiles where there is a minimum clearance between the upper and lower portions of an endless track has now been invented. The invention, in a preferred embodiment, comprises an upper drive wheel and an upper idler each fixed by axle means to the frame of said vehicle and forward and rear support arms pivotally attached to the frame, the upper pivot points of said arms being spaced longitudinally. The lower extremities of said arms connect with track contact means adapted to maintain the track in contact with the terrain surface. The forward arm is pivotally connected to said forward track contact means and trails rearward to the upper pivot point of said forward arm while the rear arm projects forward from the rear track contact means to its upper pivot point. Horizontal spring means are preferably connected directly to the rear portion of the forward track contact means and to the forward portion of said rear track contact means. The horizontal spring means preferably interconnects the forward and rear track contact means. The novel suspension system of this invention is especially useful on snowmobiles having a rear mounted powerplant.

    摘要: A concurrent backwash distribution apparatus for a filter having a filter tank and a plurality of underdrain laterals includes a baffle positioned in a common main conduit to define an auxiliary flume between the baffle and the underdrain laterals. The auxiliary flume is in fluid communication with the common main conduit and the underdrain laterals. The baffle has at least one flume liquid metering orifice preferably located near the bottom of the baffle so that it may be below a gas/liquid interface in the auxiliary flume during concurrent gas/liquid backwash operations. A flow distribution plate may be positioned between the auxiliary flume and the underdrain laterals, the flow distribution plate having at least one liquid metering orifice and at least one gas metering orifice. The baffle may take one of many forms. The baffle creates an adequate liquid pool in the common main conduit for low velocity flow of backwash liquid while at the same time providing uninhibited flow of backwash gas. Maldistribution is thereby controlled. Stand-pipes may be used in place of the baffle. A method for concurrent gas/liquid backwash according to the invention is also disclosed. The invention may be applied to flat bottom flumes or insufficiently recessed flumes.

Solids trapped on the filter media are removed by the application of a suction pressure that draws the filter media into contact with a backwash shoe. The backwash shoe has one or more orifice slots in a radially tapered or oblique angular configuration or in a combination of radially tapered and oblique angular configurations. The orifice slot configuration creates an hydraulic condition where the unit of orifice area applied per unit filter area has a generally uniform ratio across the rotating filter media. This configuration equalizes the distribution of the backwash flow over the filter area, thereby maintaining the filter media in a more uniformly clean and effective filtering condition.

    摘要: An improvement for a filter system which distributes backwash fluid uniformly throughout a bed of granular media is disclosed. The filter system includes a distributor positioned beneath and supporting the media, with the distributor having a plurality of walls which define a primary horizontal conduit and a secondary horizontal conduit. At least one of the walls which define the conduits contains metering orifices that connect the primary conduit to the secondary conduit. The improvement includes at least one baffle positioned within the primary conduit to facilitate uniform flow of backwash fluid from the primary conduit through the metering orifices into the secondary conduit. The baffle may comprise flanges extending from the walls which define the primary conduit normal to a fluid flow direction in the conduit. Alternatively, the baffle may include posts positioned within the conduit. The baffle generally reduces flow velocity near the wall which contains the metering orifices to enhance distribution of backwash fluids from the primary conduit to the secondary conduit. The baffle is preferably located near an inlet for the primary conduit, which is the high energy portion of the conduit. The invention also includes tubular inserts which may be placed in the metering orifices to assist backwash fluid flow in making the 90 degree turn from the primary conduit into the metering orifices.
