    摘要: An arrangement for applying a signal to one of a plurality of lines has a series of contact switches. Actuation of any one of the switches causes a pulse sequence to be applied to one of a plurality of input lines. The pulse sequence is also applied to a counter which counts until the counter output corresponds to the energized input line. The binary counter output is converted to decimal form and the decimal output energizes an output line corresponding to the energized input line.

    摘要: A system for controlling the relative positions of the two pistons in double or opposed piston engines having hydrostatic motion transducers for transmitting the piston energy to a driveshaft. The control is effected by adding fluid to or withdrawing fluid from the transducers. The system includes means for comparing the positions of the two pistons and the angle of rotation of the driveshaft to generate two synchronous error signals, and means for comparing the actual dead points of said two pistons and the predetermined nominal dead points of each piston to generate first and second dead point error signals, and for relating the first dead point error signal to the second dead point error signal. Fluid is added to or withdrawn from the hydrostatic motion transducers in accordance with the synchronous error signals when the engine speed is below a selected engine speed, and in accordance with a dead point error signal when said engine speed exceeds a predetermined speed. In the system, control of both pistons is simultaneously switched from the synchronous error signal to the dead point error signal and vice versa.

    摘要: An arrangement is provided for the rapid braking of magnetic tapes. The apparatus includes first and second motors adapted for driving and being interconnected through a magnetic tape, the motors being adapted for driving the tape in opposite directions and being further adapted for being switched between on and off conditions. A source of voltage is provided to operate the motors. First and second electronic switches connect the source selectively and respectively to the first and second motors. Further electronic switches interconnect the first motor with the second electronic switch and the second motor with the first electronic switch. A mechanical switch arrangement is provided for controlling the first and second electronic switches. Each motor upon being switched from on to off condition is capable of generating a voltage for a limited period of time which operates through the further electronic switches and the first and second electronic switches to switch on the other of the motors whereby the tape is braked. A delay arrangement is provided which is coupled to the further electronic switches for extending the period of time through which the braking operation is effected. According to one embodiment, a memory assembly is provided for effectively storing the last direction of tape movement and operating to prevent undesired feedback between the motors.

    摘要: A device for ventilating the hydrostatic motion converters of free-floating piston engines is provided wherein two countercurrent driving pistons are enclosed in each engine cylinder to define joint combustion chambers and drive independent hydrostatic motion converters. The device includes means for detecting the momentary or instantaneous position of each of the pistons in the cylinder and producing output signals representative of those positions. The momentary or instantaneous angular position of the engine output shaft is detected by an independent detector which produces an output signal representative of that position. Individual comparing means receive the output signals from the shaft detecting means and the respective piston detecting means and compare these output signals to produce individual synchronization error signals for each cylinder, which signals are representative of the synchronization error between the instantaneous locations of the pistons in that cylinder and the instantaneous angular location of the shaft. Liquid control means responsive to the synchronization error signals vary the quantity of liquid in the hydrostatic motion converters between the cylinders and the output shaft to reduce the synchronization error. Means are also provided for supplying a constant interference signal, representative of a loss of liquid in the hydrostatic converter, to the liquid control means of one of the pistons, in lieu of the signal from one of the comparing means associated with that piston, while the other of the piston detecting means is in normal operation, so that gases in the hydrostatic system escape therefrom through the liquid varying means associated with the other of the pistons.

    摘要: One terminal of a load impedance is connected to the collectors of two transistors of opposite conductivity type. Their emitters are connected to positive and negative power supply terminals to receive direct current, and the emitter-collector circuits of the two transistors are in current-carrying polarity with respect to the direct current terminals. The bases of the two transistors are connected to the arm of a single-pole-double-throw switch. The fixed contacts of the switch are connected to the positive and negative power supply terminals so that in one position the base of one transistor is biased to conductivity to allow current to flow in one direction through the load impedance and the conductive transistor. When the switch is in the opposite position the other transistor is conductive and current can flow in the opposite direction through the latter transistor and the load impedance.
