摘要: An acetabular prosthetic device comprising at least one acetabular augment coupled to an acetabular cup by an augment coupling element to secure the acetabular prosthetic device in place wherein the acetabular cup comprises a shell having at least one groove formed on the outer surface thereof to slidably receive the augment coupling element therein and the acetabular augment comprises an augment body configured to engage the shell and the ilia bone such that the augment coupling element is moved along the groove to position the acetabular body to engage both the shell and ilia bone to secure the acetabular prosthetic device in place.

摘要: An instrument system is provided for positioning an internal fixation prosthesis and guiding a cannulated bone drill during a surgical, radioscopic procedure for the repair of a fractured bone of a patient. The instrument system includes a target wire, a handle formed from a radio translucent material having a target hole for guided passage of the target wire along a target axis. The target axis coincides with the intersection of a first plane and a second plane orthogonal to the first plane. The instrument system also includes a nose component attached to an end of the handle and removably connectable to the prosthesis. The nose component includes an alignment sight formed from a radio-opaque material.

摘要: A fracture alignment device to immobilize a patient's limb during a surgical procedure comprising an inner flexible layer and an outer flexible layer of fluid impervious material each including a central major portion or body having a plurality of lateral minor extensions or fingers extending outwardly therefrom to form a fluid tight chamber coupled to a pressure regulator to control the pressure within the fluid tight chamber and an alignment retainer to position and maintain the inner flexible layer in contact with the patient's limb when the pressure within the fluid tight chamber is sufficiently different from the ambient pressure outside the fluid tight chamber to immobilize the patient's limb.

摘要: A nail assembly for use in trauma surgery is provided. The nail assembly includes an intramedullary shaft including a first transverse passage and a second transverse passage in the shaft. The first transverse passage and the second transverse passage do not contact each other on the shaft. The nail assembly also includes a first shaft extending through the first transverse passage in the intramedullary shaft and a second shaft extending through the second transverse passage in the intramedullary shaft. The second shaft includes an engagement feature configured to bring the second shaft into contact with the first shaft. The engagement feature may be in the form of a lateral mechanical feature that provides simultaneous unilateral coupled motion of the first shaft with the second shaft through the transverse passages in the intramedullary shaft.

摘要: An instrument system is provided for positioning an internal fixation prosthesis and guiding a cannulated bone drill during a surgical, radioscopic procedure for the repair of a fractured bone of a patient. The instrument system includes a target wire, a handle formed from a radio translucent material having a target hole for guided passage of the target wire along a target axis. The target axis coincides with the intersection of a first plane and a second plane orthogonal to the first plane. The instrument system also includes a nose component attached to an end of the handle and removably connectable to the prosthesis. The nose component includes an alignment sight formed from a radio-opaque material. When the prosthesis is connected to the nose component and the target wire is positioned through the target hole along the target axis, the image of the guide wire may be radioscopically viewed along a first line of sight contained in the first plane to bisect the image of the alignment device, thereby providing a first visual reference to the user for directing the first guide wire into the desired portion of the bone while holding the prosthesis in a desired position relative to the bone.

摘要: An intramedullary nail comprises longitudinal channel, a first transverse passage and a second transverse passage. A lag screw extends through the first transverse passage of the intramedullary nail. An anti-rotation shaft extends through the second transverse passage of the intramedullary nail. A cannulated lag screw lock is positioned in the intramedullary shaft and engages the lag screw. The anti-rotation shaft extends through a cross channel in the lag screw lock. A second shaft lock is positioned in the intramedullary nail with the second shaft lock engaging the anti-rotation shaft. In at least one embodiment, the lag screw lock includes a substantially cylindrical body portion rotatably connected to a threaded head portion. In at least one embodiment, the second shaft lock is provided as an end cap including a threaded upper portion and a lower post portion that extends into the lag screw lock.

摘要: A method to secure and stabilize an intramedullary nail in the medullary canal of a fractured hip including the steps of positioning the intramedullary nail within the medullary canal, positioning an alignment tool including a plurality of alignment bores on the intramedullary nail to align drill bits to drill holes or channels in the femur neck, femur cortex and upper and lower portions of the intramedullary nail, threading a femur neck screw through the corresponding alignment bore into a channel in the femur neck, through the hole in the upper portion of the intramedullary nail and into the head, threading a locking screw through the corresponding alignment bore and a hole in the proximal cortex and channel in the lower portion of the intramedullary nail and into the distal cortex, threading a stabilizer member through the corresponding alignment bore until the distal end portion engages the proximal surface of the intramedullary nail to limit lateral movement of the intramedullary nail thereby stabilizing the intramedullary nail in the medullary canal and removing the alignment tool from the upper portion of the intramedullary nail.

摘要: A bone end (epiphysis) fracture device including a rotatable fixation plate having a guide pin aperture and a plurality of fixation screw apertures formed therethrough. The guide pin aperture is used by a surgeon to position the fixation plate so that one or more fixation screw apertures are properly positioned to receive fixation screws inserted by the surgeon for repairing a bone end fracture. In another embodiment, the fracture fixation device also includes a side plate to which the fixation plate is rotatably attached. This embodiment further includes one or more side plate apertures formed through an elongate extension, whereby the fixation device may also be attached to the bone for which an end fracture is being repaired. A lock screw is provided in this embodiment for locking the position of the fixation plate with respect to the side plate.
