摘要: An augment for supporting an acetabular shell at an acetabulum of a hip bone. In some examples, the augment can include a body having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The body can extend from a first end portion that is adapted to be fixed to an acetabular shell, to a second end portion. The body can include a first hole and a second hole, each of the first and second holes extending through the body from the first surface to the second surface. The body can be formed of a porous material that promotes boney ingrowth and can further include a trim marker located in between the first hole and the second hole.

摘要: This augment insert (200), comprises a coupling member (204) for securing the augment insert to a glenoid component (103) of a shoulder prosthesis (101), and a body (202), comprising a first side (206), configured to bear against a scapular side (107) of the glenoid component when the augment insert is secured to the glenoid component by means of the coupling member; and a second side, opposed to the first side and configured to bear against or be adjacent to a scapula of a patient. According to the invention, the body (202) comprises at least one breakable portion (230), extending from the first side (206) to the second side and configured to be broken off the body. The aperture (234) is provided for accommodating an engaging member (111) of the glenoid component (103), said engaging member protruding from a scapular surface (127) of the scapular side (107) of the glenoid component (103) and being configured for securing the shoulder prosthesis to the scapula.

The implants may include a base member, such as an acetabular shell or an augment, that is configured to couple with an augment, flange cup, mounting member, or any other suitable orthopedic attachment. 摘要: The present invention provides processes for combined applications of making grooves on an implant surface, applying MgO nanoparticles with PMMA cement, restricting the cement movement by PCL nanofiber and tethering biomolecules with PCL nanofiber to enhance mechanical stability and osseointegration of PMMA cement with bone. This is achieved through enhanced osteoconductive properties, roughness, and less viable fracture originating sites at the bone-cement interface. Such combined applications of nanoparticle and nanofiber on the mechanical stability and osseointegration of cemented implant is heretofore unknown, but as provided by the present invention can solve the debonding problem of cemented implant from bone.

摘要: An apparatus for placement at an anatomical site, the apparatus including an orthopedic implant, which includes a front end, a rear end, a top, a bottom, a right side, a left side, and a central part connecting the right and left sides. The top surface of the implant has a top surface defining a first sloping surface running downwardly from the front end to the rear end of the implant, and the implant having a second sloping surface running downwardly from one side to the opposite side of the implant, and the first and second sloping surfaces are perpendicular to each other. At least a portion of the implant is shaped to define a porous matrix, the porous matrix being shaped to define a plurality of pores that extend through the porous matrix, the pores being sized to receive inserted bone graft material into the pores. At least the central part has a plurality of said pores therein, and the central part defines at least one fixation passageway that passes through the implant from the top of the implant to the bottom of the implant, the at least one fixation passageway having a diameter larger than an average diameter of the pores and is extending almost perpendicular to said second sloping surface running downwardly from one side to the opposite side of the implant, and is adapted to accept a fixation element.
