Abstract:
An upsetting tool of a pair of upsetting tools for the deformation of continuously cast slabs in a slab upsetting press is composed of two connecting rods which are driven through two eccentric shafts and which support the upsetting tool and guide the upsetting tool in parallel direction. Hinged to the connecting rods is a piston/cylinder unit for producing a movement of the upsetting tool synchronously with the slab movement on a roller table. The upsetting tool has upsetting surfaces for acting on one of the two longitudinal sides of the slab. The upsetting surfaces extend parallel or inclined relative to the direction of movement of the slab. The upsetting surfaces are located next to one another so as to form edges extending transversely of the direction of movement of the slab, wherein upsetting surfaces inclined away from the longitudinal side surfaces of the slab are arranged following or possibly in front of an upsetting surface extending parallel to the travel direction of the slab. Each upsetting tool has a first inclined upsetting surface and one or more additional upsetting surfaces with angles of inclination which are smaller than the angle of inclination of the first upsetting surface.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a coiler device for a rolled strip comprising at least one driven troughed roller (1) for rotating a coil (2) during the coiling and uncoiling of a rolled strip, in addition to a roller line located upstream or downstream of the coil. According to the invention, the troughed roller (1) is configured with an elastically deformable outer collar (4).
Abstract:
In an upsetting press for reducing the width of rolling stock, particularly for reducing the slab width in hot-rolled wide strip roughing mills with tool carriers, which are disposed on either side of the slab edge and accommodate pressing tools, in order to improve the pressing process, the upsetting press has, in the region between the pressing tools, at least one height-adjustable retaining roll above and at least one below the slab, that driver rolls are disposed in the inlet and outlet regions of the upsetting press above and below the slab and the retaining rolls and driver rolls are provided with internal cooling.
Abstract:
An upsetting press for width reduction of rolled stock, in particular slab width reduction in hot-rolled wide strip mills, includes supports (2) for pressing dies (1) located along opposite slab edges. The pressing dies (1) are detachably connected to the supports (2) by at least one elongated prestressable tie rod (3) rotatably mounted in each support (2). The tie rod (3) has a hammer shaped tie rod head (5) which engages in a recess (6) in the pressing die (1). The recess (6) is open on one surface for receiving the tie rod (3) so that the head abuts against and holds the pressing die against the support (2).
Abstract:
For replacing pressing dies (7) in an upsetting press (1) used for width reduction of rolled material, such as for reducing slab width in hot rolled wide strip shaping trains, the width reduction is effected by the pressing dies (7) held in die carriers (8). The pressing dies (7) face one another and are located on the opposite sides of the slab. The die carriers (8) are moved in the reduction direction by a drive system (11) and are guided in a horizontal press stand containing stand beams (6). A displacement trolley (19) having a hoisting frame (20) including a hoisting drive (21) with a support mounting (22) on the hoisting frame (20) for receiving a pressing die (7). The apparatus is arranged for completely automatic replacement of the pressing dies (7). In addition, a movable carrier trolley (23) with a least one depositing location (24, 25) for a pressing die is provided for receiving worn pressing dies and for supplying replacement pressing dies.
Abstract:
A transverse shear for severing successive sections of heavy metal plate from a length thereof comprises, in addition to the stationary lower blade, a holddown clamp upstream of the blade for pressing the length of plate thereagainst, a movable upper blade which tends to displace the plate to the side toward which the cut progresses, and lateral support elements along the longitudinal edge of the plate at this side, at least one pair of tongs which grip the downstream plate section to be severed along this edge and hold it in position against the tendency of the cut to form a wedge-shaped gap converging toward the aforementioned side. Preferably two such pairs of tongs are provided, both spaced from the cutting location and in spaced relationship to each other.

Abstract:
The invention relates to crank scissors, especially for cutting rolling strips (22), comprising two pairs of blades (3, 4) which can be secured to blade carriers (1, 2). The blade carriers (1, 2) are arranged in an opposite position on a vertical plane (x-x) in a pair of eccentric drive shafts (5, 6). Double-joint arrangements (9, 10) are maintained in a pivoatable manner on torque-supporting levers (7, 8) co-operating with hydraulic control units (11, 12) engaging thereon. Said type of crank scissors can be improved by enabling the blade carriers (1, 2) to form pairs of bearing surfaces (16-19), which are parallel to the axis, for the pairs of blades (3, 4) on approximately radial projections (13-15), whereon the upper pair of blades (3) is arranged on the inner, bearing surfaces (16, 17) of an arc-shaped recess (20) of the upper blade carrier (1) which are orientated towards each other, and the lower pair of blades (4) is arranged on a relatively narrow projection (15) on the outer bearing surfaces (19, 18) thereof.
Abstract:
A cooling device for pressing tools of an upsetting press for the width reduction of rolled material, particularly of the width of slabs in hot-rolled wide strip roughing trains. The upsetting press includes two tool carriers which are arranged on both sides of the slab edges. The tool carriers receive the pressing tools and are movable relative to each other. The upsetting press comprises at least one cooling agent nozzle which is directed toward the front edge of each pressing tool.
Abstract:
A method of operating an upsetting press for reducing the width of a hot slab cast in a continuous casting plant by laterally pressing the slab between the pressing tools of the upsetting press which are moved toward each other and away from each other by an eccentric lifting member as the slab moves on a roller conveyor through the upsetting press. During the time phase in which the pressing tools have no contact with the slab, the slab is accelerated from a predetermined feeding speed and is subsequently decelerated to this predetermined feeding speed, reducing the upsetting of the slab.
