    Abstract: An assembly of filament-drawing rollers, used for stretching rovings or fiber bundles in a spinning machine, is divided into a plurality of stages each including an elongate driven roller and a set of coacting counterrollers, the driven rollers being interconnected at both ends by respective gear trains for rotation at predetermined relative speeds by a motor driving one of these gear trains. In order to prevent any overstressing of the mechanism if nonmatching gears are inadvertently inserted into the two gear trains, a torque limiter in the form of a shearing bolt or a friction clutch is interposed between at least one driven roller and an associated driving gear. Advantageously, the torque limiter is provided with a device generating an alarm signal upon relative rotation, due to overload, of its input and output shafts respectively joined to the driving gear and the driven roller.

    Abstract: The invention relates to the regeneration of solid rail road wheels, the operating safety of which is impaired by the danger of rupture or buckling, by the action of the block brake, especially after the brake has been acting for a long time by influencing the active internal stress state in the wheel rim, in such a fashion that damaging effects are no longer present in the sense of reduced operating safety. This is achieved by heating the wheel center of the solid railroad wheel. The heating process is such that plastic deformation occurs, especially in the area of maximum internal stress and the internal stresses in the solid wheel can thereby be relieved. The temperature difference required for this, between the heated area of the wheel center and the wheel rim is at least 100 deg C.

    Abstract: The separation of different components of a fluid, e.g. of He, H.sub.2, O.sub.2, or the like from gaseous mixtures, separation of saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbon, water separation from organic mixtures, waste water purification etc., is effected by passing the treated fluid over a row of permeation cells each formed by a container subdivided, by a wall more readily permeable by one component of the fluid, into an inlet chamber and a permeate chamber. The respective chambers are arranged in series directed opposite to each other and the respective products are withdrawn at the respective ends of the series. A part of the product of the permeate chamber series is fed back into the inlet chamber series. Preferably, the delivery of untreated fluid into the inlet chamber series is effected at a point selected such as to obtain the smallest possible difference in the concentration of a respective component in the incoming untreated fluid and in the fluid being circulated through the system. A number of combinations of the basic unit of the method is disclosed. The invention results in reduced energy and permeable area requirements by limiting the volume of recirculated fluid and by strategic location of the inlet for untreated fluid.

    Abstract: A thread breakage repair apparatus for use in open-end spinning machines includes a fixture which holds the thread and trims its broken end and it also includes a movable assembly, on which a drawoff tube is mounted which is connected to a source of suction. This drawoff tube is brought close to the end of the thread held by the clamping and severing fixture, whereupon a controller releases the clamped thread which is then aspirated into the interior of the drawoff tube. The mechanical transport mechanism for the thread may be reversed in motion by the controller, permitting already spun thread to be backspaced so that the end of the thread may be reattached to the fibers located in the spinning rotor. The drawoff tube may also be of the telescoping type whose extension is determined by the controller.
