Abstract:
An expandable tubular connection includes a pin member and a box member. The pin member includes a pin thread formed on a small step and a large step and a first seal surface formed between the small step and the large step. The box member includes a box thread formed on a small step and a large step and a second seal surface formed between the small step and the large step. The pin thread and the box thread are wedge threads. Upon a selected make-up of the pin member with the box member a selected gap exists between the first seal surface and the second seal surface. The gap is selected such that, when plastically radially expanded by a selected amount, a seal is formed between at least a portion of the first seal surface and the second seal surface.
Abstract:
A threaded pipe connection includes a pin member having an external thread increasing in width in one direction, a box member having an internal thread increasing in width in an opposite direction so that complementary internal and external threads move into engagement upon make-up of the connection, and at least one contact zone in which the pin member and box member are in sealed contact.
Abstract:
A wedge-threaded tubular connection includes a pin member and a box member, wherein each of the pin and box members include an engaged thread area, and a clearance gap volume formed between corresponding roots and crests of the pin and box members and arranged along an axial length of the engaged thread area according to a distribution profile. The clearance gap volume distribution profile is configured having a greater clearance gap volume proximate a central portion of the engaged thread area and progressively less clearance gap volume towards each of the distal ends of the engaged thread area.
Abstract:
A threaded connection includes a pin member providing a single external thread comprising a first external portion and a second external portion, a box member providing a single internal thread comprising a first internal portion and a second internal portion, and a radial metal-to-metal seal to seal between the pin member and the box member, wherein the first and second internal portions threadably correspond with the first and second external portions, and wherein the first internal and external portions are characterized by a first wedge ratio and the second internal and external portions are characterized by a second wedge ratio, wherein the first wedge ratio is less than the second wedge ratio.
Abstract:
A method of treating a threaded connection that includes determining a treating time sufficient to form a thickness of a hopeite coating, coating at least a portion of the threaded connection with phosphating compound for a period of time sufficient to form the thickness of the hopeite coating is described.
Abstract:
A threaded connection including a pin member and a box member, and methods for manufacturing and forming said threaded connection. The pin member has a pin thread with a pin thread crest, a pin thread root, a pin load flank, and a pin stab flank. The box member has a box thread with a box thread crest, a box thread root, a box load flank, and a box stab flank. At least one of the pin thread crest, the pin load flank, the pin stab flank, the box thread crest, the box load flank, and the box stab flank has at least one perturbation formed thereon. Upon a selected make-up of the pin member with the box member, an increased contact stress exists between the pin thread and the box thread at the at least one perturbation.
Abstract:
A fiber reinforced plastic article is disclosed which include a liner, at least one single material fiber layer wound on the liner, and at least one composite fiber layer wound on the single material fiber layer. The at least one single material fiber layer and the at least one hybrid fiber layer are impregnated with resin.
Abstract:
A method for making a composite lined tube is disclosed, wherein the tube has end couplings on it. The method includes pressing a resin impregnated fiber preform progressively along an inner wall of the tube. In one embodiment, the method includes inserting an inflatable bladder into the tube. The bladder is adapted to inflate along a length thereof on application of increasing pressure to the interior of the bladder. The bladder has disposed on its exterior surface the fiber preform impregnated with resin which is adapted to fit within the tube. One end of the preform is secured to one end of the tube. The bladder is then inflated along its length by applying increasing pressure to the bladder. The preform is clamped to a shoulder of one of the couplings at another end of the tube, and the end of the preform is trimmed to conform to the shoulder. Pressure is maintained in the bladder while curing the resin. In one particular embodiment, the bladder is inflated from its center outwardly to its ends. In another particular embodiment, the bladder is inflated at one end progressively towards the other end. In a particular embodiment, the resin curing is assisted by inductively heating the tube.

Upon a selected make-up of the pin member with the box member, a reduced clearance gap exists between the pin thread and the box thread at the at least one perturbation.
Abstract:
A threaded connection includes a pin member having a pin thread having a pin load flank and a pin stab flank. The threaded connection includes a box member having a box thread having a box load flank and a box stab flank. The pin thread includes a first wedge segment on the pin stab flank and the box thread includes a second wedge segment on the box stab flank. Upon make-up of the pin member with the box member, a contact stress results from engagement of the first wedge segment with the second wedge segment.
