摘要: A wire temperature measuring method for a wire electric discharge machine by which temperature and temperature distribution of a wire can be accurately measured during electric discharge machining. After a machining voltage is cut off, a loop current flows. Based on the loop current and a voltage between electrodes measured by a differential amplifier, a resistance between the electrodes is obtained, and the temperature of a wire is obtained based on the resistance. Accordingly, the wire temperature during actual machining operation can be measured with accuracy.

摘要: An electric discharge apparatus in which a voltage is applied between a workpiece and a wire and a machining liquid is supplied into a gap between the workpiece and the wire for machining the workpiece. When a nozzle cannot be located closely to the surface of the workpiece, a nozzle liquid pressure is calculated from the nozzle height, and reference machining conditions are varied by the nozzle liquid pressure, so that optimum machining conditions can automatically be determined. Machining conditions (the Material M, the workpiece thickness t, the wire diameter d) are entered from an input means (1), and reference machining conditions (Vo, Ton0, Toff0) from a machining condition storing means (3) for the electric discharge wire cutting apparatus are selected. Nozzle liquid pressures (Pu, P1) are calculated by a calculating means (2) from nozzle heights (u, 1) entered from the input means (1). In a machining condition varying means (4), machining conditions (V, Ton, Toff) obtained by varying the reference machining conditions while the nozzle liquid pressures (Pu, P1) are given to a machining power supply (5 ) to machine the workpiece under the varied machining conditions.

摘要: A position finding apparatus of an electric discharge machine has a switching device including a relay 3 set into operation when tool electrode position finding starts, so that the switching device turns off machining power applied across a workpiece W and a tool electrode P. At such time, a differentiated waveform, which is obtained by differentiating in a differentiating circuit 15, a square wave produced by a pulse oscillator, is applied across the workpiece W and tool electrode P. Thereafter, position finding is performed with regard to the tool electrode P. A resistor in the differentiating circuit 15 can be made variable in value to alter the differentiated waveform applied across the workpiece W and tool electrode P.

摘要: A drilling confirmation apparatus for an electric discharge machining system automatically, correctly and easily detects the completion of drilling of a hole through a workpiece. A voltage representing a current flowing across a current limiting resistor of the electric discharge machining system is supplied to a divider through a smoothing differential amplifier, representing a detected average machining current. The frequency of a command pulse supplied from a numerical control unit to a servo circuit is converted into a corresponding voltage through a frequency-to-voltage converter. The converted voltage is supplied to the divider as a detected machining speed. The divider divides the detected machining current by the detected machining speed to obtain a machining area signal. The machining area signal and a delayed machining area signal, which is obtained by delaying the machining area signal by a predetermined period of time, are supplied to a comparator. When the delayed machining area signal exceeds the machining area signal, completion of drilling is detected.

摘要: An wire electrode cooling apparatus in a wire cut discharge machine is provided for supplying a working fluid to a guide member which guides a wire electrode therethrough and cools the wire electrode. The working fluid is supplied to the guide member through a flow control valve. The opening of the flow control valve is controlled automatically or manually, either depending upon the pressure of the working fluid which changes in accordance with the electric spark forming speed. The pressure of the working fluid is optimally maintained at the electric spark forming region for high- and low-speed electric spark forming. At the same time, the flow rate of the working fluid supplied to the guide member is optimized, thereby preventing the wire electrode from being disconnected.

摘要: A power source arrangement for electric discharge machining in which a power source and a switching element are connected in parallel to an electrode and a workpiece and the switching element is driven by a pulse signal of a predetermined period to perform electric discharge machining of the workpiece, there being also provided a pulse signal generator for generating a pulse signal in which the ratio of the OFF interval to the ON interval gradually increases with the lapse of time and a detector for detecting the occurrence of an arc or short in the spark gap. Upon detection of arcing or shorting in the spark gap by the detector, the pulse signal generator is activated so that the pulse signal of the predetermined period to be applied to the switching element is gated by the output pulse signal from the pulse signal generator until the arc or short is removed.
