Abstract: A method and an apparatus may be provided for migrating a source virtual machine disk of a virtual machine from a first storage device to a second storage device while the virtual machine is running. The method may include creating a target virtual machine disk in the second storage device, replicating the source virtual machine disk of the first storage device to the target virtual machine disk in the second storage device, detecting variation of the source virtual machine disk, reflecting the detected variation on the replication stored in the target virtual machine disk in the second storage device, and assigning the target virtual machine disk of the second storage device as a designated virtual machine disk for the virtual machine.
