    摘要: A sealing connection between first and second members having coacting telescoping ends. A resilient U-shaped metal seal ring is positioned in a groove in the first member and seals against both the first and second members and includes a soft metallic seal coating. Projections extend from the seal on each side of the soft coating for protecting the coating as the members are engaged. Recesses are provided in the second member for receiving the projections and allowing the metallic seal to engage the second member. A transitional surface on the end of the second member engages the projection means for compressing the metal seal as the members are engaged.

    摘要: Disclosed is a support structure, such as a liner hanger, for use in a well, including an assembly of slips for wedging to the interior surface of the surrounding well, but maintained off of wedging surfaces in a running in configuration by a drag assembly and latch mechanism connected to the hanger body carrying the wedges. As the latch is configured to permit setting of the support structure, a lost motion coupling joining the slip assembly with the drag and latch assembly permits rotational and limited longitudinal movement therebetween as the slip system moves rotationally, and possibly longitudinally to a limited extent, with the hanger body relative to the drag assembly.

    摘要: An underwater connector for interconnecting a plurality of fluid power and control lines for controlling and actuating underwater equipment. The connector includes one or more members adapted to be positioned underwater some each of which includes a vertically positioned flat surface with a plurality of fluid passageways terminating at the flat surfaces of the members. Another member is adapted to engage and disengage from underwater members and also includes one or more vertically positioned flat surface for mating with the flat surfaces of the underwater members and includes a plurality of passageways terminating at the other member flat surface for sealingly mating with the passageways of the underwater members. Coacting cam means are provided between the underwater members and the retrievable member for horizontally moving the underwater members into a sealing relationship with the retrievable member as they move vertically together. Releasable locking means lock the retrievable member with the underwater members. Supports for the underwater members allow limited horizontal movement of the members, individually and jointly. Hydraulic fluid supply and control lines extending to the water surface are connected to some of the passageways in the underwater members for actuating control valves in the retrievable member.

In the specific embodiment shown, one arm piece fits into the end of the pipe with enlarged end in the form of a collar, and cooperates with a C-shaped receptacle which is fixed to the end of the other arm piece, and which fits around the pipe and catches the pipe collar to prevent the pipe from separating from the first arm inserted into the pipe end. A spring-actuated lock prevents the arms from opening and releasing the pipe.

    摘要: A latching system for releasably connecting two conduits which includes a base member having at least one upwardly extending conduit and a locking plate supported thereon, and a latch support member including at least one downwardly extending conduit and having a locking mandrel depending therefrom. The locking mandrel is rotated via the downward movement of a piston within a cylinder, the piston having a spirally splined shaft mounted thereon which mates with a spirally splined surface associated with the locking mandrel, whereby downward movement of the piston and spirally splined shaft causes the locking mandrel to rotate and lock into engagement with the locking plate.
