    摘要: A waste fluid is evaluated to determine if the waste fluid includes fracturing fluid requiring treatment for sodium; a hydrocarbon level requiring hydrocarbon treatment; and/or drilling fluid requiring clay treatment. The waste fluid is mixed with mature compost, organic fertilizer, and top from the well site. If the waste fluid requires treatment for sodium, calcium nitrate is mixed with the waste fluid in an amount sufficient to balance the sodium content thereof. If the waste fluid includes a hydrocarbon level requiring hydrocarbon treatment, an additional organic fertilizer is mixed with the waste fluid along with hydrocarbon-digesting microbes in an amount sufficient to inoculate the waste fluid. If the waste fluid includes drilling fluid requiring clay treatment, the waste fluid is mixed with gypsum to break up and reduce adhesive characteristics of clay particles present in the waste fluid. The mixture is stirred and dried to produce fertile top soil.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for converting spent water-based drilling mud into fertile indigenous top soil at a well site or location. The fertile indigenous top soil is produced by the steps of: admixing, at a well site, effective amounts of spent water-based drilling mud, mature compost, organic fertilizer, and top soil from the well site to provide a mixture containing spent water-based drilling mud, from about 30 to about 150 volume percent mature compost, from about 5 to 20 volume percent organic fertilizer, and from about 5 to 20 volume percent top soil from the well site wherein each of the volume percents is based on the volume of the spent water-based drilling mud present in the mixture; stirring the mixture for a period of time effective to form a substantially homogenous mixture; and drying the substantially homogenous mixture so as to provide fertile indigenous top soil possessing similar microbial and enzyme characteristics as the top soil at the well site.

    摘要: Described herein are methods, apparatuses, and systems for reducing the sulfur content of coal. Coal is loaded into an apparatus comprising a vertically rotatable drum within a housing. The rotatable drum comprises a perforated cylindrical outer wall, a solid cylindrical inner wall, and a perforated, cylindrical central wall positioned between the outer wall and the inner wall, wherein the coal is loaded into a coal wash annulus between the central wall and the outer wall. A microbial wash fluid flows into a wash fluid annulus between the inner wall and the central wall, wherein the microbial wash fluid contains sulfur digesting bacteria and nutrients for the bacteria. The drum is rotated to cause the microbial wash fluid to migrate from the wash fluid annulus through the coal in the coal wash annulus and collect in a splash wash annulus between the outer wall and the housing.
