摘要： Control apparatus for a xerographic type copying machine which enables the service technician to give the machine operator or user, as the operator's experience and training progresses, increased control over, and responsibility for, critical machine operating settings. The control apparatus includes a master lock to prevent unauthorized tampering with the machine settings by anyone except the authorized service technician. Individual locks, accessible only to the service technician, are provided for controls which it is expected that the operator or user, with training and experience, can ultimately handle. To nevertheless restrict and control the degree of operator responsibility and involvement in adjusting machine operating settings, means are provided with each control to enable the amount of adjustment that can be made limited.

摘要： A flash fusing system for fusing toner images onto support material in which the support material is transported in a path past one or more flash fusing lamps. The flash fusing lamps are coupled to a circuit including a power supply voltage which is adjusted by an input from a sensing circuit including, a photodiode which measures the density of the unfused toner images on support material and converts the information into electrical signals. The electrical signals are supplied to an integrator which in turn is coupled to the power supply voltage of the circuit for energizing the flash lamps.

摘要： A compact dual decurler mechanism that provides a single straight paper path for achieving bidirectional decurling capability. The dual decurler mechanism consists of two pairs of drive roll and pinch shaft and a camming mechanism for controlling their engagements. The first and the second pairs are oriented in opposite directions in a manner that they can selectively form opposite bending nips for decurling incoming sheets of different curl directions. The operation of the dual decurler can be software controlled through the use of an electric indexing clutch such that, depending on system inputs on image area coverage and the type of finishing device being used, the first pair can be adjusted for toward image (TI) bending, the second pair for away image (AI) bending, or both be set at a neutral setting that keeps both nips open when no decurling is needed. The architecture of the single straight paper path of the dual decurler can minimize paper jams and avoids potential damage to sheets.

摘要： A printing machine having multiple distributed high voltage power supplies is disclosed. The printing machine comprises a print engine having a plurality of high voltage electrical printing machine components. A housing supports at least one of the high voltage power supplies. A receptacle mounted on the housing receives an external connector from one of the machine components. The receptacle is fixed on the housing and is not detachable. A contact located inside the receptacle electrically connects circuitry from the power supply to the external connector. A second contact on the housing electrically connects circuitry from the power supply to a second external connector on the machine component.

摘要： A customer-replaceable module having a fusing subsystem therein for a electrophotographic printer or copier includes three separate devices for detecting potentially dangerous temperature conditions within the module. A first thermal cutoff spaced from the fuser roll can detect high temperatures caused by incorrect software operation and hardware failures. A second thermal cutoff contacting the fuser roll outside of the paper path can detect failures associated with software malfunctions and paper shielding the first thermal cutoff. A thermistor contacting the fuser roll in the paper path can interface with the control software of the printer or copier itself. The thermal cutoffs function entirely independently of the control software of the printer or copier. The module may further include an electronically-readable memory for recording failure conditions.
