Abstract:
An electronic mail system displays a list of received mails in a receiving mode. The list indicates a mark “O” at the end of the row describing the contents of the mail from a person for whom an already-read mail box has been set. When received mail is mail from a person for whom the already-read mail box has been set, the system displays TO MAIL BOX button further. When the user touches TO MAIL BOX button, the system stores the received mail currently displayed in the already-read mail box which has been set with the keyword of the mailing address.

Abstract:
The electronic apparatus of the present invention can easily retrieve data transmitted via a facsimile function of the apparatus. The apparatus includes a data memory for storing input data; a transmission device for facsimile-transmitting the data stored in the data memory; a history information memory for storing history information of the transmission by the transmission device; a listing display for listing the history information stored in the history information memory; a specifying device for specifying desired history information from a history information listed displayed by the listing display; and a retrieval device for retrieving the transmitted data corresponding to the history information specified by the specifying device from the data memory device to a display.
Abstract:
A facsimile apparatus capable of enhancing a communication speed with another facsimile apparatus through a transmission line in a network includes a facsimile modem unit for quantizing image data and coding the image data quantized so that the coded image data is output, and a data terminal unit for supplying a first indication signal and a second indication signal and transmitting the image data in response to the first indication signal so that the coded image data is transmitted in response to the second indication signal. The facsimile modem unit includes a unit for quantizing image data to be inputted, a unit for coding the image data quantized in the quantize unit, and a unit for sending either the data coded in the coding unit or coded data supplied from the data terminal unit to the data transmission line. The data terminal unit includes a unit for supplying a first indication signal and a second indication signal, a unit for transmitting the image data to the modem unit in response to the first indication signal supplied from the supply unit, and a unit for transmitting the coded image data to the sending unit in response to the second indication signal supplied from the supply unit.
Abstract:
A programmable electronic calculator operates in a programming mode, wherein a desired optional program is introduced into the programmable electronic calculator, or in a run mode wherein the stored program is executed. The introduced optional program is stored in a read/write memory (RAM). A mode selection switch is provided on a keyboard for selectively placing the programmable electronic calculator in the run mode or the programming mode. When a lock command is introduced through the keyboard, the mode selection switch is disabled so that the programmable electronic calculator will not be placed in the programming mode, thereby protecting the optional program stored in the read/write memory (RAM) from being unintentionally erased.
Abstract:
An electronic apparatus such as a pocket computer is of the type in which a detachable memory module can be operatively coupled. Just upon interruption of power, the apparatus generates indefinite information such as random number, time information, or the serial number, so that the indefinite information is written into both the memory module and a memory of the body of the computer. Just upon application of power, the apparatus reads the indefinite information out of the memory of the body of the computer and of a memory module presently coupled to the body to determine whether they agree with each other. Only when they agree with each other, the memory module presently coupled to the body of the apparatus will become effective.
Abstract:
An electronic-type computer in which programs may be entered from a key entry device into a Random Access Memory in which they are stored, and those programs may be read out from the contents of that Random Access Memory and executed, while, in addition, programs may be written and stored ahead of time in a Read Only Memory, and those programs may be read out from the contents of that Read Only Memory and directly executed. The previously written and stored programs in the expandable ROM do not utilize the RAM user program area, and the large volume of programs contained within the expandable ROM can be directly executed. In addition, the user programs and the programs in the expandable ROM may be linked together and executed. Furthermore, it is unnecessary to give instructions for the programs in the expandable ROM to be transferred to the RAM.
Abstract:
A combined home-use-television set/calculator electronic system comprising a control unit for conducting arithmetic calculations and for displaying calculation results on an image screen of the home-use-television set. A keyboard unit is exchangeably connected to the control unit for increasing operation abilities of the combined home-use-television set/calculator electronic system. A read only memory cartridge is exchangeably secured to the control unit. A read only memory corresponding to a selected keyboard unit is secured to the control unit for developing operation instruction signals which are required for performing the arithmetic calculations associated with the selected keyboard unit.
Abstract:
An e-mail sending/receiving system is furnished with a host computer having a storage section for storing mails, a first control device for extracting the mails to be sent to a terminal in accordance with priorities assigned to the mails. Thus, the user can receive mails with higher priorities, such as urgent or important mails, in a secure manner without worrying about an available memory capacity of the terminal.
Abstract:
A data receiving apparatus in which mail from a sender for which a secret setting is made cannot be directly confirmed. In this data receiving apparatus, when a password is not inputted or when an incorrect password is inputted by a user when a display is in a state of password input screen, the display indicates only a received mail list for mails from persons who are identified by personal data sets stored in advance which do not have a secret flag. The display also indicates the number of all the mail data sets, including the mail data sets from persons for which the secret flag is set.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus having a main body and a lid body is configured so that the lid body can be switched between a closed state, a stacked state, a double screen state and an inverted state. Each of the main body and the lid body has a display section for displaying information and an input section composed of a transparent tablet and provided on the display section. As a sensor or the like detects the lid body in one of the four states, a control section of the information processing apparatus controls the display section so that a screen on the display section is appropriate to the detected state of the lid body. The control section also controls the lighting section for lighting the display section appropriately to the detected state of the lid body. This realizes appropriate display in accordance with usages of the information processing apparatus and offers an easy-to-operate and easy-to-use information processing apparatus. Besides, the lighting section is turned on/off according to needs, and therefore it is possible to prevent heat generation and to restrain power consumption.
