摘要： A new and useful combination of a radio receiver, a television receiver, a tape recorder and an electronic calculator is described. A display (for example, a cathode ray tube) of the television receiver is connected to serve also as a display for the electronic calculator. Data may be introduced into the calculator via the tape recorder and recorded into the tape recorder. The television receiver serves a display and the tape recorder serves as an external storage, with respect to the calculator.

摘要： An interface circuit connects a computer and peripheral units. The interface circuit includes a battery power source that drives a signal conversion circuit. A detector circuit detects levels of signals received from the computer, the signals being indicative of a power ON/OFF status of the computer. A control circuit controls the operation of the signal conversion circuit so that the built-in battery source will not be dissipated while the computer is not in operation. The control circuit also inhibits operation of the signal conversion circuit when the detector circuit indicates that condition of the battery source has deteriorated.

This realizes appropriate display in accordance with usages of the information processing apparatus and offers an easy-to-operate and easy-to-use information processing apparatus. Besides, the lighting section is turned on/off according to needs, and therefore it is possible to prevent heat generation and to restrain power consumption.

摘要： An input/display apparatus for handwritten characters is capable of quickly inputting handwritten characters, freely editing characters inputted, and storing a lot of handwritten characters with a limited storing capacity. On a display panel provided with a display surface, the orthogonal coordinates of which are preset, a touch panel provided. An input surface of the touch panel, the orthogonal coordinates of which are preset, is disposed in such a way that the display surface and the input surface overlap each other. When the input surface is indicated with an input pen, the indicated coordinate point is outputted. At the time of handwriting input, when the input surface in the input/display area for characters is continuously indicated, coordinate points on the display surface corresponding to the plurality of indicated coordinate points are displayed. After the handwriting input is over, stroke data consisting of coordinate points extracted on the basis of predetermined references from among a plurality of coordinate points outputted from the touch panel at the time of handwriting input are prepared. The stroke data are displayed by being converted to a size corresponding to the width of the line set in the area after the display position of the cursor.
