摘要: An ink-jet printhead and a manufacturing method thereof include a substrate on which a space portion is formed, a passage plate installed on the substrate in which an ink chamber is formed to store ink, a nozzle plate installed at a top surface of the passage plate in which a nozzle is formed to eject the ink, and a vibration plate disposed between the substrate and the passage plate to generate a pressure for ejecting the ink by changing a volume of the ink chamber. The vibration plate includes a base layer formed at a top surface of the substrate so as to cover at least a part of the space portion, a thin film shape memory alloy layer which contacts the ink contained in the ink chamber and varies according to a temperature variation, a heating element disposed between the base layer and the thin film shape memory alloy to generate heat, and an insulating layer disposed between the heating element and the thin film shape memory alloy layer and transfers the heat generated by the heating element to the thin film shape memory alloy layer. Due to a stable temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of the heating element, a height and a width of a voltage supplied to the heat element can be easily controlled, and thus power of the vibration plate can be precisely controlled, thereby having a predetermined image quality, and the heating element does not contact directly the ink, thereby realizing stability of the ink-jet printhead.

摘要: A method of detecting a missing nozzle and an ink jet print head using the same can detect a missing nozzle immediately with a simple process when the missing nozzle is generated. One method of detecting a missing nozzle used in an ink jet print head provided with plural chambers, plural heaters corresponding to the chambers, and plural nozzles corresponding to the heaters can include detecting a temperature of each of the chambers, and when the detected temperature deviates from a predetermined temperature range, determining that a nozzle corresponding to the chamber is a missing nozzle.

摘要: A printer head is provided that enhances energy efficiency of a heater layer and substantially prevents heat from being excessively transmitted to ink in an ink chamber, thereby improving ink-ejecting performance and/or printing performance. A method of fabricating such a printer head is also provided. The print head includes a substrate having an ink chamber and a nozzle disposed in the top thereof, an insulating layer layered on the substrate, and a heater layer layered on the insulating layer. A heat transmitting part transmits heat to the ink chamber. The insulating layer is formed so that a portion thereof that faces the heat transmitting part of the heater layer has a thickness larger than that of the rest of the insulating layer.

摘要: An ink-jet printhead includes a substrate on which an ink chamber is formed, and a nozzle plate to cover the ink chamber, having a nozzle through which ink droplets are ejected from the ink chamber, and formed of a stack of a multi-layer insulating layer. The ink-jet printhead also includes a heater buried in the nozzle plate to surround the nozzle, an interconnection layer buried in the nozzle plate to electrically connect to the heater, and a coating layer formed of photoresist on the nozzle plate and having a through hole-type droplet guide connected to the nozzle of the nozzle plate. The droplet guide is formed through the coating layer, which has a sufficient thickness, and enables a meniscus of ink to be rapidly restored and stabilized, and ink droplets to be ejected at a high speed and high frequency. Also, the ink-jet printhead has improved resistance to abrasion and chemicals.

摘要: An inkjet printer head includes a substrate having an ink-feed hole to supply ink stored in a cartridge to an ink chamber and a restrictor in fluid communication with the ink chamber, an oxide layer formed on the substrate, a heater disposed on the oxide layer above the restrictor and having fixed parts disposed on the oxide layer, slopes extending upward and away from the restrictor at an incline, and a parallel part extending between the slopes parallel to the substrate, a lead formed to be in electrical contact with the heater, a chamber layer formed to cover the lead and to define the ink chamber, and a nozzle layer formed on the chamber layer and having a nozzle. In the inkjet printer head, the lifespan of the heater may be extended since the heater is supported by the slopes, which function as a shock absorbing member when ink supply pressure or cavitation force is applied to a surface of the heater. In addition, since the heater does not have a right angle structure, the heater may be formed to have a uniform thickness even when a thin layer used for the heater is formed by a deposition method.

摘要: A bubble-jet type ink-jet printhead has a structure in which a base plate, a barrier wall, and a nozzle plate are stacked. The base plate includes a substrate on which a recess is formed to a predetermined depth, an adiabatic layer formed on the substrate, a heater which is formed on the adiabatic layer and generates a thermal energy, and a passivation layer which is formed on the heater and passivates the heater. The barrier wall is stacked on the base plate, defines an ink chamber, which is disposed on the recess and has a recessed bottom surface, and defines an ink passage which communicates with the ink chamber. The nozzle plate is stacked on the barrier wall, has nozzles through which ink is ejected, and is formed at a location corresponding to a center of the ink chamber. Since a height of the barrier wall surrounding the ink chamber is reduced by the recess, delamination caused by ink soaked into the barrier wall can be prevented, and print performances such as a traveling property in a straight direction of ink droplets and ejection velocity of ink droplets, are improved.

摘要: An ink-jet print head preventing thermal accumulation on a nozzle plate includes a substrate, a channel formed in the substrate to supply ink, a nozzle plate connected to the substrate and including a nozzle corresponding to the channel, a heat element formed in the nozzle plate to surround the nozzle, a thermal conduction layer formed on an upper side of the heat element formed between the thermal conduction layer and the heat element, and a thermal shunt spaced-apart from the heat element by a predetermined distance not to overlap the heat element in a direction parallel to the nozzle plate and connecting the thermal conduction layer to the substrate. Redundant heat generated from the heat element is not accumulated on a membrane of the nozzle plate but is rapidly absorbed into an inorganic thermal conduction layer formed in the membrane and is transferred to the bulk silicon substrate through a metallic thermal bridge, such as the thermal shunt.
