Abstract: A wheelchair frame having a seat for supporting a forward facing occupant therein, rear wheels supporting the frame thereon proximate a rear end of the frame and front wheels supporting the frame thereon proximate a front end of the frame, further includes a front seat height adjustment mechanism which permits a height of a front end of the seat relative to the front wheels to be adjusted separately from or together with a rear end height adjustment of the rear end of the seat relative to the rear wheels. The front seat height adjustment mechanism can also be operable to lower the front seat height relative to the front wheels simultaneously with a rear seat height adjustment mechanism which is biased to raise the rear seat height relative to the rear wheels to assist users in moving from a sitting position towards a more standing position.

Abstract: A wheel mount assembly for mounting a drive wheel to a frame of a wheelchair is provided. The assembly includes a camber body attachable to an axle of one of the drive wheels and operable to pivotably couple about the frame through a range of camber angles; a spacer operable to set a desired camber angle, the spacer contacting the camber body at the desired camber angle; and a clamp operable to secure the camber body and the spacer to the frame at the camber angle. Optionally, a transverse member, extending between the drive wheels, may engage a portion of the frame such that the clamp is prevented from pivoting through the camber angles of each respective camber body. Again, optionally, the wheel mount assembly may be clamped to the frame at a multitude of positions, thus providing a means to adjust the center of gravity of the wheelchair.

Abstract: Wheelchair side guards are provided with a strip and covering materials. The strip is sufficiently rigid to keep the shape and position of the side guards such that a user and their clothes are kept away from the wheelchair wheels. Abstract: A wheelchair footrest retraction device has been developed to allow wheelchair users to easily retract the footrest and have assistance as they rise from the wheelchair. The device includes a handle that can be rotated by the user from a horizontal to a vertical position where it can then be used to provide support as the user rises from the wheelchair. Rotation of the handle acts to retract the footrest through a series of linkages that transmit force from the handle to the footrest. The device also includes a support post that prevents the wheelchair from tipping forward as the user rises from the wheelchair.

Abstract: A wheelchair according to one embodiment is provided with a frame and a seat assembly that is movable in elevation relative to the frame. The frame has a seat hinge mounted thereto, and is rotatably coupled to left and right wheels. The seat assembly has a side member hingedly coupled to the seat hinge and a seat back hingedly coupled to the side member such that the seat back can be maintained at a constant angle relative to the frame when the side member pivots about the seat hinge and moves the seat assembly between multiple elevations. The wheelchair also comprises a lockable spring hingedly mounted to the frame and to the seat assembly; the spring is lockable at multiple positions thereby locking the seat assembly at the multiple elevations. This spring can be sufficiently elastic to suspend the seat assembly and absorb shock at each of the locked multiple elevations.
