    摘要: A caster assembly for a wheelchair comprises a stem having a frame clamp at a first end and a fork clamp at a second end, the frame clamp configured to form a frame joint with at least one rotational degree of freedom with a frame portion of the wheelchair, a tightening of the frame clamp securing the stem to the frame portion, the frame joint having a frame rotational axis. A fork unit has a fork portion and a caster rotatably supported by the fork portion, the fork unit having swivel mechanism, and a joint portion forming a rotational joint with the fork clamp of the stem, a tightening of the fork clamp blocking rotation of the rotational joint, the rotational joint having a fork rotational axis. A vector of the fork rotational axis is normal to a fork rotational plane in which the fork rotates relative to the stem, and further wherein the frame rotational axis is not parallel to the fork rotational plane.

    摘要: A wheelchair having a chassis formed of flat plate which is folded to define a lower chassis, a chassis back, and an upper chassis. The lower and the upper chassis each have a pair of elongated substantially parallel arms that extend from respective land portions of the chassis. The arms define openings in distal portions for receiving caster wheels. Drive wheels connect to axle mounts that are selectively positioned for track, camber, and height, which axle mounts connect to the chassis back. A seat support attaches to the chassis for supporting a person in the wheelchair and includes independently adjustable height, longitudinal position relative a seat back, and angle. A pair of push handles attach to the chassis back and pivotally connect to the seat support for selective positioning of the angle of the back.

    摘要: An adjustable seat back assembly for a wheelchair of the type having a frame with an upwardly extending rear frame portion and an adjustable angle seat support which includes a pivotable front end and a rear end which is secured to said rear frame portion at any of a plurality of different positions. A seat back support is mounted to pivot on the seat support from adjacent its rear end. A link connects the seat support to a slider on the rear frame portion to maintain the position of the slider relative to the seat back support pivot as the seat angle is adjusted. A releasable seat back angle adjuster secures the seat back support to the slider at any of a plurality of positions. When the seat back angle adjuster is released, the seat back support may be folded down towards said seat support.

    摘要: Wheeled apparatus (10) is usable both as a wheeled walker and as a wheelchair. The wheeled apparatus (10) includes a foldable frame (12 or 258), first (16A) and second (16B) transversely spaced-apart wheels that are attached to the frame (12 or 258) with a negative camber angle, a third wheel (24A) that is longitudinally spaced from the first (16A) and a second (16B) wheels and that is attached to the frame (12 or 258), and a seat cushion (97) that is attached to the frame (12 or 258). When used as a wheeled walker, bi-directional seat (101, 124, 146, or 162) provides rearward facing seating (186) for resting, and when used as a wheelchair, the bi-directional seating means (101, 124, 146, or 162) provides forward facing seating (187). Centers (94) of handgrips (82A and 82B) are disposed longitudinally intermediate of the first and second wheels (16A and 16B) and the third wheel (24A) to minimize danger of the wheeled apparatus (10) tipping backwardly when used as a wheeled walker. A negative camber angle of the first and second wheels (16A and 16B) minimizes danger of the wheeled apparatus (10) tipping sideways, and an asymmetrical folding mechanism (15 or 256) reduces or removes the negative camber angle when the foldable frame (12 or 258) is folded, thereby minimizing the required size of a shipping container.

    摘要: A wheelchair frame is defined by a pair of side frame assemblies that are rigidly connected to each other by a seat pan. Each side frame assembly includes a seat mounting member on which the seat pan is mounted, a bottom member connected to the seat mounting member, and a footrest member pivotally connected to the seat mounting member and rigidly connected to the bottom member. A drive wheel mounting assembly can include a generally U-shaped mounting block for being mounted on a bottom member of each side frame assembly, and a drive axle receiving arrangement mounted on each mounting block for receiving a drive wheel axle. The bottom member can be provided with a flat surface upon which the drive axle receiving arrangement is placed. A caster wheel mounting assembly mounted on each bottom member can include a caster wheel mount having two spaced apart forks for receiving a caster wheel, a stem connected to the caster wheel mount, a caster sleeve in which the stem is positioned, and a bearing disposed between the caster sleeve and the stem for allowing rotational movement of the caster sleeve relative to the stem and the caster wheel mount. To adjust the seat pan angle, the rear end of each bottom member can be curved upwardly and provided with a plurality of holes arranged along an arc having a center of curvature that corresponds to the pivot connection between the seat mounting member and the footrest member.

    摘要: A number of pairs of plug-in chamber angle adjustment plugs are provided having preset angled bores for selection of a desired camber angle for the wheels of the wheelchair. The preset angles are embodies in cylindrical bores longitudinally disposed in the plugs, the bores attached or formed within the plugs at the desired camber angle and so positioned as to compensate for the change in wheelbase which would normally result from changing the camber angle. The stationary axle of the wheel is received and secured within the angled bore. The plugs bear a pattern of holes that may only be inserted in one alignment to attach to a mating pattern of holes in mounting plates formed in the rcesses in the sides of the chassis of the wheelchair. Alternatively, the mounting plate may have a keyway for attaching the plugs. Conventional screws are used to further secure the plugs within recesses in the chassis of the wheelchair.

    摘要: By adjusting two telescoping-type interengaging shiftable parts for each of two frame bars (3,4) of a support frame (2) of a lightweight wheelchair (1), the sitting position of the same can be adjusted with respect to the seat surface (5) and with it the adjustment of the center of gravity can be dynamically adjusted with respect to the user. Additional adjustment possibilities by means of each support element (17) at the right and left sides of the seat surface (5) with respect to the rear axle as well as corresponding clamping devices for the front wheels (9,10) on the frame (2) allow a very precise user-compatibility in this lightweight wheel chair. Additionally a backrest (6) can be collapsed with respect to the seat surface (5) by means of handles (20) pivotally connected with the frame bars, to thereby permit the lightweight wheelchair (1) to be compactly folded up for transportation purposes.
