Abstract:
An optical coupling system having a split sleeve with a metallized strip adhered to a housing barrel at one end. The sleeve may be smaller than an optical fiber ferrule. The sleeve may have spring-like flexibility and be stretched open at the slit sufficiently to permit insertion of the ferrule in the sleeve. The sleeve may be made of zirconia. The ferrule may be held by the sleeve's spring-like contraction around the ferrule. Attached at the other end of the barrel may be an optoelectronic element such as a vertical cavity surface emitting laser. An optical fiber end of the ferrule may be aligned with the laser. Since the ferrule may be held firmly by the sleeve attached to the coupling barrel, there would be virtually no movement or wiggle of the fiber end relative to the laser and thus the alignment may be maintained.
Abstract:
A table and method of playing a combined poker and baccarat-type card game. The method of playing a combined poker and baccarat-type card game comprises dealing 3 cards of both a banker hand and a player hand, with the winning baccarat hand having a higher hand value based on the traditional baccarat scoring system, but without all of the complex baccarat rules for determining if and when a third card is to be dealt. Included is the option of any player to select that the player hand of three cards or the banker hand of three cards or both the player hand and the banker hand will provide a bonus poker hand of one pair, a three-card flush, a three-card straight, three of a kind, a three-card straight flush and a three-card royal flush comprising an Ace and a King and a Queen of any one suit.
Abstract:
A large scale LED display has a cable and rigid link support structure for a number of LED modules. The cable and rigid link support structure is flexible but has sufficient structural integrity to prevent misalignment of the pixel modules. The LED modules are removable from the support structure individually and as a group so as to facilitate repair of the display. The LED modules are rugged so as to withstand harsh outdoor conditions and they provide sufficient luminescence for use in sunlight.

Abstract:
A large scale LED display has a number of display panels each having a cable and spacer support structure for a number of LED modules. Adjacent display panels are connected together by a number of seam links that snap onto one cable of one of the display panels and one cable of the adjacent display panel. The cables may include a number of seam link engagement members spaced along the length of the cable and onto which the seam links snap wherein each of the seam link engagement members locates an LED module on the support structure. The LED modules include top and bottom housing sections that snap together, wherein one of the housing sections includes a seat for an electrical connector. The seat locates the connector and a printed circuit assembly within the LED module.
Abstract:
An optical coupler having two refractive lenses for coupling an optoelectronic element and an optical medium to each other. One lens may be in contact with the optical medium. The refractive index of the one lens may be similar to the index of the optical medium. The optoelectronic element may be a light source or a detector. The light source may be a laser. The lenses may be glass ball lenses. One of the ball lenses may be a half ball lens. If the optical medium is an optical fiber, one of the lenses may a fiber stop for the fiber when inserted in a receptacle of the coupler.
Abstract:
A see through display includes a variably transmissive element positioned between a real world view and an eye of a user, and a generated display optical system for generating a displayed information image superimposed over the real world view in the visual field of the user. The variably transmissive element is controllable to dynamically vary the light intensity passing through the element into the visual field of the user. The variably transmissive element may be spatially addressed to allow selective variable transfer of light intensity through the element into the visual field of the user.
Abstract:
A method for stabilizing an enzyme against decomposition at elevated temperatures or by water is described which comprises combining the enzyme with stabilizing amounts of a non-ionic polyether-polyol block-copolymer surfactant. Stabilized compositions based on the enzyme and surfactant are also described.
Abstract:
Pesticidal compositions for application to chlorophyl-containing algae or plants containing endothall or a salt thereof and at least one ethoxylated amine of formula I ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is an alkyl group having 8 to 22 carbon atoms, and is saturated or unsaturated; and the poly(oxyethylene) content (x+y) is greater than 3 but less than or equal to 15. Also disclosed are methods of increasing the effectiveness of endothall or a salt thereof which comprises adding to the endothall or salt thereof an amount of an ethoxylated amine of formula I effective to increase the pesticidal activity of the endothall or salt thereof.
