Abstract:
A boat seat accessory stand includes a main support member, a sleeve member, a lower brace member, and an upper brace member for attaching an umbrella or other accessory to a typical pedestal mount boat seat. The boat seat accessory stand provides for support and rotation of the attached umbrella around the boat seat.
Abstract:
A titanium alloy has greatly increased specific strength and increased thermostability. The alloy consists of a titanium matrix in which fibrous dispersoids are formed in situ. The dispersoids are rod and/or plate shaped and have a diameter or depth of about 0.1-0.5 microns and an aspect ratio of about 5-10. A typical alloy has the composition A-X where A is titanium or titanium alloy and X is boron, carbon, nitrogen, mixtures thereof, or mixtures with silicon.
Abstract:
An improved protective coating system for metal substrates is described. Nickel-aluminide duplex coatings are improved by adding an effective amount of boron in the nickel coating step and by retaining the boron during the aluminization step. An unexpected result of the retained boron is its non-deleterious effect on oxidation protection. During aluminization, the boron surprisingly migrates to the coating/substrate interface, forming a diffusion barrier in situ. The barrier inhibits both inward diffusion of the nickel-aluminide coating and outward diffusion of substrate impurities. The process enables thinner, less expensive coatings.
Abstract:
Three aluminum-lithium alloys are provided for high performance aircraft structures and engines. All three alloys contain 3 wt % copper, 2 wt % lithium, 1 wt % magnesium, and 0.2 wt % zirconium. Alloy 1 has no further alloying elements. Alloy 2 has the addition of 1 wt % iron and 1 wt % nickel. Alloy 3 has the addition of 1.6 wt % chromium to the shared alloy composition of the three alloys. The balance of the three alloys, except for incidentql impurities, is aluminum. These alloys have low densities and improved strengths at temperatures up to 260.degree. C. for long periods of time.
Abstract:
A method of producing rapidly solidified metal powder utilizes a spinning metal source and a laser beam to melt the surface layer of the source and atomize it. The laser beam is directed at a glancing angle along the surface of the spinning metal source. The source spins at a high speed of 10,000-30,000 revolutions per minute. The atomized metal is solidified rapidly in an inert gas atmosphere. Very high cooling rates up to 10.sup.6 .degree. C. per second can be achieved. Very small and uniformly distributed particles of rapidly solidified metal can be obtained having a narrow particle size distribution from about 50-150 microns and typically having a high percentage of the particles at a particle size of below 100 microns.

Abstract:
A ventilated shipping carton formed of a pair of identical, fibreboard, top and bottom closures each having a four sided vertical rim and a plurality of flaps secured to opposite sides of the rim and movable from an overlapping closed position to an unfolded, spread position for opening the carton, a plurality of wood veneer slats arranged vertically between the rims of the closures, and spaced apart for ventilation to form four sides of the rectangular carton body, and a plurality of spaced, horizontal binding wires wound about and embracing the rims of the top and bottom closures and secured to the closure rims and the ends of the slats. The invention further contemplates the method of making the carton as inclusive of the following steps:1. forming each closure from a planar fibreboard blank by slitting and scoring to define the rim and flap portions;2. arranging the slats in spaced parallel relation in one plane;3. placing the closure blanks spread apart with the flaps facing outwardly from one another and the rims overlying and touching the ends of the slats,4. placing a wire along each rim and overlying the rim and the underlying slat ends; and5. stapling the wires to the adjacent rims and underlying slat ends, whereby completing a carton in flat condition and which may be folded into a box-like structure for loading with fruit or other produce.
Abstract:
A beverage holder attachment securable to a boat seat is provided. The beverage holder attachment includes (1) a flat plate having a length greater than its width, (2) at least one fastener opening adjacent a first end, each sized for a fastener to secure to the boat seat, (3) a cylinder attached via its base end, having diameter suitable for a specified size beverage container, (4) a hole centered within the base end to provide drainage, having diameter less than the cylinder diameter, and (5) first and second flection lines parallel each other extending across the width of the flat plate, providing for bending at the first and second flection lines to situate the base end of the cylinder offset from the flat plate via the specified distance, wherein the beverage holder attachment is securable to an underside of the boat seat to provide for placement of a beverage within the cylinder.
