Abstract:
The ambulatory stretcher with patient lifting measures enables a patient to be loaded onto the ambulatory stretcher without moving. The ambulatory stretcher with patient lifting measures includes an outer frame that includes an opening, and which is adapted to be placed onto the ground immediately surrounding a patient. The outer frame includes a pair of patient-conveying members that extend and retract to close off or open up the opening in the outer frame. The patient-conveying members are able to extend underneath a patient while said patient is lying on the ground surface. Moreover, the patient-conveying members are able to load the patient onto the assembly without requiring any movement of the patient with respect to the ground surface.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a folding mounting assembly mounted on a mobile stand for controlling movement of a projector arm, having a projector at one end, from an operable position substantially perpendicular to a screen or other surface mounted on the stand and onto which the projector is intended to project and a closed position parallel to the screen. The assembly comprises a vertical support member that is connectable to the stand and a projector arm mounting means pivotally connected to the vertical support member by means to control the rate of movement of the projector arm mounting means so that it can easily be manually moved from the operable to the closed position and vice versa and will support a projector arm.

A system for implementing a loyalty program includes a personal terminal, an interaction terminal, and a loyalty module. The personal terminal may be associated with a user. The interaction terminal may be associated with a product or service. The interaction terminal and the personal terminal may be operable to establish a communication when in proximity of each other. The loyalty module may be operable to provide a benefit to the user in response to the communication. The benefit may be provided without regard to whether the user obtained or purchased the product or service.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to artificial tissue growth guides comprising a core and an outer sleeve, which facilitates the regeneration of damaged tissues, such as nerves. The core is fixed to the sleeve at two attachment sites so that cells seeded within the core produce mechanical tension between the attachment sites. This tension aligns the cells and the fibres of the core and provides an improved substrate for tissue regeneration. Growth guides may be surgically implanted into an individual.
Abstract:
There is provided a video card game machine, having a visual display unit (VDIU), a user control panel for a control unit, means for awarding a prize such as a coin/token delivery hopper, and acceptance means to receive an input payment from a player such as a coin/token acceptor. The VDU is adapted to provide various displays one of which is illustrated. The VDU displays cards, a number of cards from the one pack of cards, namely, a line of winning cards 10(a) to (e), a line of continuance cards 11 (a) to (c). All of these cards are displayed with their indicia revealed to the player. Finally, there is a plurality, in this case 5, of gaming comparison cards 12(a) to (c) initially all face down. Card 12(a) is revealed and it matches card 10(c) and the player wins and receives a prize. Card 12(c) is then revealed and it matches card 10(a) recording a second win. Then card 12(c) is revealed which records a third win by matching with card 10(c) again. Finally, the game stops when the player reveals card 12(b) for which there is no match.
Abstract:
A remote control and methods of configuring the remote control are provided. The remote control includes a plurality of favorite channel buttons, an icon holding member having at least one surface positioned adjacent to at least one of the favorite channel buttons, and a transmitter that transmits signals, such as a channel corresponding to an icon located on the icon holding member, to a media device in response to a favorite channel button being pressed by a user. The method of configuring the remote control includes placing an icon on the icon holding member adjacent to one of the favorite channel buttons and programming the remote control to send a signal representing a desired channel that corresponds to the icon using the transmitter when the favorite channel button adjacent to the icon is pressed.
Abstract:
Implementations of various technologies described herein are directed toward a sensing architecture for use in cardiac rhythm management devices. The sensing architecture may provide a method and means for certifying detected events by the cardiac rhythm management device. Moreover, by exploiting the enhanced capability to accurately identifying only those sensed events that are desirable, and preventing the use of events marked as suspect, the sensing architecture can better discriminate between rhythms appropriate for device therapy and those that are not.
Abstract:
A method of controlling a braking force applied to at least one wheel supporting a tire that includes steps of issuing a braking command (100), commanding an amount of tire stretch based on the braking command (102), estimating an amount of tire stretch for the tire based at least in part on wheel speed (104), and controlling the braking force applied to the wheel so that the estimated amount of tire stretch approaches the commanded amount of tire stretch (106). Also, a system (10) for controlling braking based on a determination of tire stretch that includes a tire stretch command generator (12) generating a tire stretch command based on a braking command, a reference velocity estimator (46) producing a first signal indicative of a velocity, a tire stretch estimator (30) producing a second signal indicative of an amount of tire stretch, and a brake force command generator (18) generating a brake force command based on the braking command, the first signal and the second signal.
Abstract:
A rotatable sign which consists of at least one rotatably sign portion mounted upon an axle, a base to which one end of the axle is secured, and means for limiting the rotational speed of the rotatable sign portion, preferably in the form of braking means which applies an increasing braking force to the sign as the speed of rotation of the sign increases.
Abstract:
An antenna system includes a stacked patch antenna (100) comprising two or more patch antennas symmetrically aligned around an axis. The stacked patch antenna (100) comprises a differential feed patch antenna. The two or more patch antennas include a first patch antenna (105) and a second patch antenna (110). At least a portion of the second patch antenna (110) serves as a ground plane for the first patch antenna (105).
