Abstract: A sterile suture anchor and drive kit with the suture anchor having a cylindrical body portion with a generally tapered distal end portion and a screw thread extending along a cylindrical body portion. A plurality of parallel longitudinal grooves are cut into the cylindrical body interrupting opposed portions of the screw thread and a connecting groove is cut through the distal end portion of the suture anchor engaging the plurality of longitudinal grooves. A closed suture loop is mounted in the longitudinal grooves and the connecting groove. A driver is adapted to be mounted to the suture anchor, the driver comprising a handle with a tube mounted to the handle, the tube being provided with outwardly extending drive tip members adapted to be inserted into the suture anchor longitudinal grooves to engage the groove side walls of the suture anchor to apply driving torque to the suture anchor.

Abstract: A sterile suture anchor and insertion kit with the suture anchor having a cylindrical body portion with a generally tapered distal end portion and flat end. A plurality of parallel longitudinal grooves are cut into the cylindrical body and a connecting throughgoing bore is cut through the cylindrical body engaging the plurality of longitudinal grooves. An inserter driver is adapted to be mounted to the suture anchor, the driver comprising a handle with a drive shaft mounted to the handle, and a slidable sleeve mounted on the drive shaft which holds the suture anchor. A guide member comprising a handle with a hollow sleeve extending therefrom is used to hold a punch against the area on which a blind bore is formed to form the blind bore after which the inserter driver is mounted in the guide member sleeve to guide the slidable sleeve of the inserter driver and associated suture anchor into the blind bore.

Abstract: The invention is directed toward a method and instrumentation to replace a damaged human knee joint meniscus with an allograft meniscus. The implant has its bone base cut to a desired width in a workstation. The finished base is measured in the sizing groove of the sizing block for width and length. The tibia is then drilled with drill to the appropriate depth and length and groove is formed in the tibia with a tissue chisel so that the width is the same as the width of the bone base. The bone base is press fit into the tibia groove and may be secured with a bone screw.

Abstract: The invention is directed toward a portable surgical workstation and kit of accessory devises for cartilage implant formation comprising a base, a vise assembly mounted to the base, the vise assembly comprising a fixed jaw member and a moveable jaw member, each jaw member defining grasping surfaces for holding a bone workpiece. A shaft drive is threadably connected to the moveable jaw member and rotatably mounted in the fixed jaw member for transporting the moveable jaw toward and away from the fixed jaw. An articulated guide assembly is mounted to the fixed jaw member, the articulated guide means including a sleeve member and a plurality of moveable interconnected members selectively rotatable on a ball joint. A miter assembly defining a slot of a width to receive a surgical saw is mounted to at least one of the jaw members. The kit of accessory devices comprises a plurality of different diameter bushings which fit in the sleeve member and a plurality of different diameter cylindrical core cutter assemblies sized to fit in each respective sized bushing and a donor cutter guide adapted to fit in said sleeve.

Abstract: A sterile suture anchor comprising a body with a distal end, tapered planar side walls and a dome shaped proximal end, a cross section of said body forming a triangular shape with at least one rounded end; and a suture aperture transversely cut through the body being dimensioned to hold at least one suture. An insertion tool for inserting the suture anchor through a substantially cylindrical bore hole in a live human bone and causing the suture anchor to be anchored comprises a handle, a hollow tube secured to the handle and a driver rod slidably mounted in the tube. The driver rod has a distal end defining an angled cam which engages a suture anchor mounted in said tube and rotates the suture anchor into a desired position for insertion into human tissue. A finger driver assembly is mounted on the handle and is secured to the driver and so that movement of the finger driver assembly causes the driver rod to be moved within the hollow tube causing the driver rod cam end to engage the suture anchor and turn the suture anchor in a predetermined orientation for anchoring in the bore hole.
