摘要: The present invention describes a novel methodology for adjusting a bandwidth extension algorithm by adapting one or more of enhancing perception parameters (e.g., a signal level, a signal energy and/or a gain) of a high-band encoded signal based on the characteristics of the input signal and an encoding performance in a low band with a codec utilizing audio-band-split coding by separate encoders and decoders for each audio band. The adaptation is based on the low-band coding algorithm. It can be at least two types of such an algorithm: e.g., an algebraic code excitation linear prediction (ACELP) algorithm for a speech-like input signal and a transform algorithm of a non-speech-like input signal, such that when the ACELP coding is selected, the corresponding enhancing perception parameter is gradually tuned down and when the encoding algorithm is changed to the transform coding, the corresponding enhancing perception parameter is gradually tuned up.

摘要: A method of transmitting a codeword over a transmission channel using a plurality of radio bursts. The codeword comprises a first sequence of time ordered protected bits and a second sequence of time ordered unprotected bits, and the radio bursts together provide a set of time ordered bit positions. Successive bits of said first sequence are allocated to the radio bursts in a cyclical manner so that adjacent protected bits are allocated to different radio bursts, while successive bits of said second sequence are allocated to remaining bit positions of the radio bursts in the time order of those remaining bit positions. The radio bursts are then transmitted sequentially on different frequency bands.

摘要: A speech encoding or decoding arrangement (711, 721, 811, 821) comprises a speech signal input and a multiple mode speech encoder (402) or decoder (411) for encoding or decoding speech signals coupled to the speech signal input selectabily with a first encoding or decoding mode associated with a first bandwidth or a second encoding or decoding mode associated with a second bandwidth. It comprises a soft bandwidth switching block (401, 412, 500) with an input (IN) and an output (OUT). In an encoding arrangement the input (IN) is coupled to the speech signal input and the output (OUT) is coupled to the multiple mode speech encoder (402). In a decoding arrangement the input (IN) is coupled to the multiple mode speech decoder (411) and the output (OUT) is the output of the decoding arrangement. The soft bandwidth switching block (401, 412, 500) is arranged to gradually change the bandwidth of a speech signal coupled to the multiple mode speech encoder or decoder as a response to an instruction for changing speech signal bandwidth (421).

摘要: The invention relates to a method for decreasing the frame error rate of information to be transmitted in the form of data frames in a data transmission system, in which the information to be transmitted is divided into data frames (102, 202). The data frame (102, 202) is supplemented with error correction data generated by using part of the information to be transferred. At least part of the information to be used in the generation of error correction data is protected by error correction coding (107, 206), by which an error correction coded data frame (108, 207) is obtained, in which different parts of the protected information have different error rates (BER). The error correction coded data frames (111, 212) are transferred in the data transmission channel from the transmitter to the receiver. The error rates of at least one part of the protected information are levelled out by shaping at the transmission stage that information part (207) which is protected by error correction coding and which is used in the generation of the error correction data.

摘要: An encoder encodes digital signals representative of data by classifying the digital signals into first and second classes indicative of their influence on data quality and subjects them to error detection encoding capable of generating at least two error detection codes which respectively correspond to the first and second classes. A decoder receives the encoded digital signals classified into first and second digital signal classes, decodes the error detection codes, and generates error signals, corresponding to the respective digital signal classes, from which the quality of the received digital signals is estimated and the utility of the received digital signals is determined.

摘要: When several successive bad frames are received, a speech signal applied to an audio speaker is muted after a certain period of time, whereby the user may switch the phone off even though it is possible for the transmission channel to regain its good quality. Instead of the muting of the phone, the user is, according to the invention, given a specific indication, a weak noise signal, for example, indicating that the call synthesization has been discontinued on purpose. The noise signal may be generated in a noise generator prior to a speech decoder, and the noise signal is summed with the attenuated parameter values of the frames substituted during subsitution process.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for processing the parameters of a speech coder according to the quality of the transmission connection. The quality of the transmission connection is determined in a quality monitoring member (409) on the basis of erroneous/error-free classifications of single received frames so that for determining the quality of the transmission connection the classifications of single frames performed during several subsequent speech frames are scanned. On the basis of the quality of the transmission connection both the replacement procedure of erroneous speech frames carried out in the replacement member (402) and the processing of the frames detected as error-free carried out in the processing member (406) of error-free frames are controlled so that the effect of the transmission errors on the quality of the decoded speech signal remains insignificant (FIG. 4).
