摘要: A communication device and method in a mobile communication system. The mobile communication system has a plurality of service entities and a plurality of logical channels mapped to each service entity. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a communication device at a reception side has a plurality of logical channel mappers for the respective logical channels and a plurality of physical channel multiplexers/demultiplexers for physical channels. Each logical channel mapper converts a received data block mapped on a logical channel to a traffic in a predetermined format. Each physical channel multiplexer/demultiplexer defines a traffic receivable from a logical channel mapper, receives the traffic from the logical channel mapper, and demultiplexes the traffic into a corresponding physical channel.

摘要: Frames received by base stations (base stations) (103-107) are assigned a frame-quality indicator (FQI) by the base station. FQI information for all frames received is continuously backhauled to a switch (101). The switch (101) sidehauls the FQI information to a call anchoring base station, where a determination of a base station with the best FQI for each frame takes place. Once the anchoring base station determines a base station with the best FQI for a particular frame, the anchoring base station sends a FORWARD_FRAME message to the base station with the best FQI, or, if the anchoring base station is the base station with the best FQI, nothing is sent to the other base stations. Once the FORWARD_FRAME message is received by a base station, the base station immediately forwards the frame (identified by the frame number) to the switch (101). The switch (101) then routes the selected frame accordingly.

摘要: A communication relay system is connected to a line switched mobile communication system adapted to accommodate therein mobile terminals through radio channels and a packet switched mobile communication system adapted to accommodate therein the mobile terminals through radio channels. When a connection request has been made to a portable terminal, the communication relay system judges whether the portable terminal of interest is connected either to the line switched mobile communication system or to the packet switched mobile communication system.

摘要: Apparatus, and an associated method, for utilizing a Bluetooth-compatible access point and mobile stations of a WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) system. A manner is provided by which to increase the number of mobile stations capable of communicating with an access point at any particular time during operation of the WLAN system. Limitations associated with a maximum of communication devices capable of forming a single piconet are obviated as additional piconets are defined, as required, to accommodate increased numbers of mobile stations to communicate with the access point of the WLAN system.

摘要: A method of dynamic channel allocation in a frequency hopping communications system is disclosed providing improved efficiency and reliability. During the course of communications between a plurality of transceivers over a frequency hopping wireless communications link, a transceiver begins evaluating the performance of each channel in the hop sequence, starting at a fixed point in the sequence. The transceiver proceeds sequentially through the hop sequence, until a channel fails to satisfy a predetermined quality criterion. A channel which fails to satisfy the quality criterion is considered bad, and substituted with a replacement channel from a set of available channels via an unacknowledged channel replacement command. The channel evaluation process is subsequently reinitiated beginning anew at the fixed point in the hop sequence, thus operating to maintain a set of consecutive good channels.

摘要: Wireless repeating apparatus are arranged so that a series of information items transmitted from either a portable wireless information terminal or an information processing apparatus are stored in an information storing unit. When transmission requests for the stored information are received from the portable wireless information terminals by an information transmitting/receiving unit, the stored information is read from the information storing unit, and transmitted by electromagnetic waves to the portable wireless information terminals.

摘要: In some aspects, each cell in the communications system can be designed to operate in accordance with a set of back-off factors that identify the reductions in peak transmit power levels for the channels associated with the back-off factors. The back-off factors are defined to provide the required power to a large percentage of the users while reducing the amount of interference. In some other aspects, the cells operate using an adaptive reuse scheme that allows the cells to efficiently allocate and reallocate the system resources to reflect changes in the system. A reuse scheme is initially defined and resources are allocated to the cells. During operation, changes in the operating conditions of the system are detected and the reuse scheme is redefined as necessary based on the detected changes. For example, the loading conditions of the cells can be detected, and the resources can be reallocated and/or the reuse scheme can be redefined. In yet other aspects, techniques are provided to efficiency schedule data transmissions and to assign channels to users. Data transmissions can be scheduled based on user priorities, some fairness criteria, system requirements, and other factors. Users are assigned to available channels based on a number of channel assignment schemes. Channel metrics are also provided, which can be used to prioritize users and for channel assignments.

摘要: A method of identifying and communicating the existence of Intermittent nodes in a communication network with a mixed TDMA/CSMA-CD MAC frame format, and of preventing these nodes from unnecessarily debasing existing voice channel connections. Information pertaining to intermittent nodes is included in a database for an extended operational duration and used as primary information in control of the creation of any newly requested voice channels. Intermittent nodes are treated for the purpose of assigning voice channels as existing permanent nodes, whether currently visible or not. Newly revealed intermittent nodes are added to the database through intermediate nodes. This invention increases reliability and quality of voice communications during noise/impedance level changes of the network that may render one or more nodes not visible.

摘要: The invention herein is described relates to a system and method for efficiently using bandwidth across a fixed wireless or wired interface, which may be a broadband wireless access interface. A preferred embodiment of the invention dynamically assigns bandwidth for one or more DS0 voice channels across a wireless interface in a configurable multi-channel communication system using T1 and/or E1 trunks or any other multiplex source. Bandwidth for voice channels is assigned as a function of the ACTIVE/IDLE bits associated with the DS0 channels and only those voice channels that are ACTIVE are assigned bandwidth. The invention describes a system and method for the dynamic allocation or removal of bandwidth for a channel as the state of the channel changes between ACTIVE and IDLE. Channels carrying data only are not impacted by the present invention. In another embodiment, the invention assigns bandwidth across a wired interface in a multi-channel communication system.
