摘要： A process for preparing compounds of the formula ##STR1## where a, b d, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are as defined herein including condensation of a phenol of formula ##STR2## with an acetal of formula ##STR3## in the presence of a catalytic amount of a tertiary amine. The compounds of formula I are intermediates useful in the preparation of pyranyl cyanoguanidine derivatives.
