Disclosed herein are a novel perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether compound, a process for preparing a copolymer by using the perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether compound, and an optical plastic material comprising a copolymer prepared by the process. More specifically, the perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether has a particular molecular structure; the process is performed by copolymerizing the perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether compound with a common fluorinated olefin in the presence of a perfluorinated radical initiator; and, the optical plastic material comprises a copolymer prepared by the process and optionally a dopant.The copolymerization of the perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether with a common fluorinated olefin can provide a copolymer having a high molecular weight. In addition, appropriate control of the composition of the monomers can provide a completely amorphous copolymer. Since the polymer prepared by the process exhibits excellent thermal properties and is substantially transparent in the UV and near IR regions, it can be usefully applied to various optical plastic materials. Furthermore, a preform for a GI type plastic optical fiber fabricated by using the copolymer and the dopant has a high Tg, thus being stable, and a parabolic refractive index profile due to the presence of the dopant.

The present invention relates to a lignocellulose solution and its production method, further to a degradable foam and its production method. The degradable foam of the present invention is produced by foaming and hardening with an ordinary foaming agent and hardening agent the lignocellulose solution which is obtained by dissolving lignocellulose and/or its derivatives in aliphatic polyester polyol, or else such solution with photodegradation promoters added thereto; and is also produced by foaming and hardening with an ordinary foaming agent and an ordinary hardening agent the lignocellulose solution which is obtained by dissolving lignocellulose and/or its derivatives in the bio-/photo-degradable aliphatic polyester polyol which is obtained by a polycondensation of the dicarboxylic acid composed of aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and keto containing dicarboxylic acid or its ester and aliphatic diol.The degradable foam of the present invention excells in its degradability, mechanical properties and economic efficiency.

A method of preparing an object with a radially-varying property is disclosed which includes the steps of providing a preform reactor including an outer container having a bottom, an inner container installed in the outer container, the inner container having a bottom, a rotating rod installed at a position in the outer container, and a sealing member for sealing the outer and inner containers at the bottoms thereof; filling the inner container with an inner material and a space between the inner container and the outer container with an outer material wherein the outer material has a different property from the inner material; removing the inner container; and rotating the rotating rod for laminar mixing of the inner and outer materials. An apparatus for carrying out the inventive method, and objects formed in accordance with the inventive method, are also disclosed.

A method for treating a polymeric optical element which includes the steps of mounting a polymeric optical element into a chamber, injecting a compressed gas as an annealing medium into the chamber and annealing the polymeric optical element and removing the annealing medium from the chamber. The present method provides a new way of preventing disadvantageous molecular orientation and residual stress which causes a deterioration in the optical properties of the polymeric optical element.
