摘要: The present invention provides a pigment ink formulation containing a wax emulsion is disclosed. The wax emulsion comprises a specific wax and surfactant combination. In particular, the wax comprises a linear polyethylene wax and the surfactant is an alkyl ether carboxylate. The wax emulsion can be made by any process for preparing emulsions used by those skilled in the art such as typical homogenization methods. Applicants have discovered that such a wax emulsion can not only improve the scratch resistance of pigmented ink, but also improve other handling problems such as scuff and smear.

摘要: Black toner formulations for electrophotography. The black toner formulations include an optimum concentration of one or more black colorants. Further, the black toner formulation includes either a polymeric dispersant, a binder, a wax, or combinations thereof. The one or more black colorants exhibit a low absorption in near infrared spectrum ranging from a wavelength of about 700 nanometers (nm) to a wavelength of about 1100 nm. Moreover, the black toner formulations exhibit a bulk toner powder reflectivity of greater than about 8 percent and less than about 60 percent, at a wavelength of about 940 nm, for toner particles having sizes ranging from about 5.5 to about 10 microns.

摘要: A method for making toner particles having reduced toner charge transfer sensitivity when used in electrophotographic printers. The method includes preparing a dispersion of pigment, a fuser release agent, and a polymeric dispersant. The polymeric dispersant has a hydrophilic polymeric segment and at least one segment selected from the group consisting of a protective colloid segment and reactive surfactant segment. The polymeric dispersant also has a weight average molecular weight ranging from about 5,000 to about 30,000 as determined by gel permeation chromatography, and a hydrophobicity ranging from about 10 to about 90 percent by weight. The dispersion is mixed with a latex binder dispersion to provide a toner mixture. The toner mixture is agglomerated while stirring the mixture at an elevated temperature to provide toner particles.

摘要: The invention provides an improved ink formulation and method therefore. The formulation includes from about 50 to about 85 percent by weight water, humectant and an organic solvent and a chemically modified carbon black pigment, wherein the chemically modified carbon black pigment contains steric inducing groups on a surface of the carbon black which groups are derived from a steric inducing compound which compound is substantially soluble in the humectant and is reactive with an organic acid halide. The ink jet printer ink formulation containing the chemically modified carbon black has an idle time of greater than about 15 seconds in an ink jet printhead. Improved idle time is important because it reduces nozzle plugging between nozzle firings.

摘要: A release agent composition for use in an electrophotographic process is disclosed. This composition includes a specifically-defined heat-stable silicone oil-silicone wax random copolymer. The copolymer has a melting point such that it is liquid on the hot fuser roll, but solidifies at room temperature on the printed page. A random silicone copolymer, in the form of a paste or pliable caulk, which is useful for sealing leaks in toner cartridges is also disclosed. Finally, the method for preparing these copolymers is disclosed.
