摘要: A system and method for determining substrate media height including a media transport having a transport surface for carrying thereon substrate media along a media path in a process direction past a print zone. A media height detector is disposed upstream of the print zone. The height detector includes an elongate member disposed above the transport surface and extending across the transport surface in a cross-process direction. The elongate member is slanted with respect to the transport surface with a distance between the elongate member and the transport surface decreasing as the detector extends in the process direction. The height detector includes a deflection sensor operably connected to the elongate member. The deflection sensor senses deflection of the elongate member.

摘要: A substrate media height detector for a printing system having a print head including a media transport having a surface for moving a sheet of substrate media along a media path in a process direction. An elongate detection member includes a portion extending across the media path in a cross-process direction and is spaced from the media transport surface a predetermined distance. The detection member is movably attached to a support structure and is deflectable upon engagement with a sheet of substrate media. A deflection sensor senses the deflection of the detection member by the substrate media.

摘要: A media transport apparatus includes a first media transport, having a first transport surface and a first drive unit, to convey the substrate media. A second media transport having a second transport surface and a second drive unit receives the substrate media from the first. A first force transducer outputs a force signal associated with a first force between the media transports. A control unit receives the force signal, and outputs a control signal to at least one of the first and second drive units that is dependent upon a comparison of the first relative force signal with a predetermined value. The control signal commands the first or second drive unit to drive the motion of the respective first or second media transport to maintain the force signal at or about no greater than the predetermined value.

摘要: Embodiments according to the present disclosure provide methods and systems of determining nip velocity profiles in a medium registration system, including parameterizing a set of equations into a set of standard parameters, the set of equations representing an analytic form of the nip velocity profiles; determining values of the parameters through an iteration process; and determining the nip velocity profiles based on the determined values of the parameters. The embodiments separately provide systems and methods of simulating a medium registration process, including inputting an error parameter to a velocity nominal profile of a nip in a medium registration system; determining an output value of the velocity nominal profile; and using the output value in a regression algorithm to obtain a simulated relationship, the simulated relationship indicative of a manner in which the error parameter influences the output value. The embodiments separately provide systems and methods of determining an angular velocity of a medium relative to a nip in a medium registration system, including determining a path of the nip on the medium; and determining the angular velocity as a function of a position of the nip in the path. The embodiments separately provide systems and methods of controlling nips of a medium registration system, including wagging a medium relative to a center line of two nips of the medium registration system; and then unwagging the medium relative to the center line of the two nips.

摘要: A system for maintaining a uniform velocity of a belt which is driven on rollers. A first roller is provided with a first encoder which supplies a pulse train to a first control device which controls a first servomotor. The first servomotor drives the first roller which provides torque to the belt. A second roller is provided with a second encoder which supplies a pulse train to a second control device which controls a second servomotor for selectively dampening the second roller. When a variation in the speed of the belt is detected by the second control device a signal is sent from the second control device to the second servomotor. The second servomotor dampens any speed variations so that the belt maintains a constant speed at a location proximate to the second roller.

摘要: A rotary variable differential transformer has coil windings at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the transformer and a core rotatable about this axis with end faces cut at projected angles therewith such that a rotation of the core varies the coupling between the primary and secondary windings. Amplitude and phase variations at the secondary windings are measurements of core rotation.

摘要: In a capacitive pressure transducer of the type having a flexible diaphragm, a "dimple" like or concave surface is formed therein in order to provide an air gap between the flexible diaphragm and a relatively rigid plate. When pressure is applied to the diaphragm, the diaphragm deflects providing a measurable change in capacitance which varies as a function of the applied pressure.
